They were once the brightest stars in the theater sky over Bad Oelnitz: soprano Josephine Gönnerbach-Holl, “La Grande stupenda di Bad Oelnitz”, a master of the high-dramatic repertoire, made the hearts of subscribers and sensitive pianists quiver with her death arias. And her husband, conductor Viktor Gönnerbach, endowed with a special knack for the talent of young cellists, drove the Oelnitzer Symphony Orchestra to unprecedented heights. Their path could have led anywhere: Berlin, Vienna, Bayreuth – at least.

Xenia, however, who seemingly naively engages in the criminal dealings, has secretly her own criminal agenda: her crush, Kasimir Lubowski, is to be promoted from the third to the first concertmaster. For the murder-hungry artist couple, time is pressing; the golden wedding anniversary is approaching, the guest list is filled with former lovers, and the problem of annoying togetherness must finally be resolved...
