Who hasn't dreamed of thrilling safaris and magnificent sunsets in the African savannah? - In the world-famous wildlife parks of South Africa, you will see this breathtaking wildlife, and after the safari, you can wind down the day on a lodge's veranda with a sundowner. - Longing? - In South Africa, this dream quickly becomes reality. Photographer and adventurer Michael Fleck has been living this dream with his family since the early 90s. In his latest LIVE multivision, Michael Fleck shares stories from the last three of his many trips to southern Africa. Here, the audience experiences authentic Africa up close. The country expert compellingly and passionately reports on the diverse wildlife, the cheerful people, and the fantastic landscapes. On adventurous tours, the Flecks explored deep into Africa by off-road vehicle, on foot, and through horse trekking.
South Africa is vibrant, diverse, and surprising. The lively metropolis of Cape Town captivates with its positive vibe. With Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula, it is nestled in a spectacular landscape. Right next door is Stellenbosch, the mecca for wine lovers. The Kruger National Park is known for its stunning animal diversity, but safaris in the many smaller nature reserves across the country also offer incredibly exciting opportunities for wildlife observation. Ostriches, whales, elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, and rhinos can not only be observed in their natural habitats; active species protection is also practiced here. Michael Fleck reports exemplarily on the successful measures for the protection of endangered rhinos.
But the country at the southern tip of Africa has much more to offer - there's a lot blooming here! In the South African spring, an incredible play of colors occurs in the normally dry and desert-like region of Namaqualand. Entire areas are now yellow-orange; the wildflowers are in bloom! One experiences pure freedom on Route 62. It leads over spectacular mountain passes through the charming semi-desert of the Klein Karoo to Oudtshoorn, the global center of ostrich farming. The desert regions contrast with the 3,000-kilometer-long coastline, a true paradise for marine life. Particularly, the Garden Route, with its lush vegetation and rugged cliffs, is one of the most spectacular coastal sections.
The Flecks drove up the legendary Sani Pass to the Kingdom of Lesotho in their off-road vehicle. On an adventurous trekking tour with horses, they rode over nearly 3,000-meter-high passes to the most remote mountain villages. On the border with Namibia, the remote Richtersveld National Park is the destination of a strenuous but scenically brilliant off-road route by 4x4 vehicle. A detour to Zimbabwe to the ruins of Great Zimbabwe and the Matobo National Park shows the grand scenery but also the current, problematic situation in the country.
Brilliant photographs in a 3:1 panorama format and spectacular video sequences, utilizing drones and action cameras, immerse the audience in the midst of the action. Over two years of production time, a portrait of South Africa has emerged that is so comprehensive that even country experts are surprised and delighted.
