The soprano Marie Tremblay-Schmalhofer, originally from Canada, studied singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich with Kammersängerin Prof. Reri Grist. As a sought-after soprano, she has received numerous engagements both domestically and internationally. In addition to various operatic roles, her repertoire encompasses all stylistic periods from oratorio to musical. Art songs, French Mélodie, and contemporary music hold a special, significant place in the artist's work. She is a permanent member of the contemporary music ensemble Musica Viva.
Marie Tremblay-Schmalhofer has released widely acclaimed CD recordings: 'Perspectives' (works by Helmut Bieler, 2021); 'Passions' (works by Johannes X. Schachtner, Label Nightberry, 2016); 'Kaleidoscope' (music by Elke Tober-Vogt, Label Amphion, 2012). She teaches passionately, including as a lecturer in singing and vocal pedagogy at the Leopold Mozart College of Music at the University of Augsburg. For many years, the Philharmonic Choir Augsburg has engaged her as a voice coach. She is a cultural award winner of the city of Bobingen and an ambassador for the Augsburg district.
Pianist Sylvia Hewig-Tröscher studied at the University of Music in Munich with Prof. Erik Then-Bergh and Prof. Hermann Reutter, as well as at the Conservatoire de Musique in Geneva with Louis Hiltbrand. In 1977, she graduated from the Classe de Virtuosité in Geneva with the Premier Prix avec distinction and the Henry Broliet Prize. GEDOK Prize. Additionally, Sylvia Hewig-Tröscher completed a study in organ under Lionel Rogg with the Diplome d’Orgue. She has attended masterclasses with Wilhelm Kempff, Karl Seemann, Klaus Schilde, George Halmos, and the harpsichordist Li Stadelmann.
As a soloist and chamber musician – including as the pianist of the piano trio Orfeo – she has since performed throughout Europe, America, Egypt, India, Korea, and Japan. New music and premieres of works by contemporary composers are always special focuses of her programs. Numerous radio and CD recordings have been made featuring rarely performed works of the classical and romantic periods.
Sylvia Hewig–Tröscher is a professor of piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and served as its vice president and women's representative from 2009 to 2015. She holds masterclasses in Germany, Italy, and the USA, and is also an editor of the series "At the Piano" with Henle Verlag.
