Porsche Big Band + Wüstenrot & Württembergische Campus Big Band - Big Band Battle zu Gunsten der LKZ-Aktion "Helferherz"
Let yourself be inspired by the musical enthusiasm of the Porsche Big Band in the anniversary year "20 Years Porsche Big Band": unmistakable Porsche sound, created by 20 instrumental voices that form a very special collective.
Since the founding of the band in 2005, professional drummer Meinhard "Obi" Jenne has been steering the course of the ensemble with remarkable verve. Over the years, Jenne has shaped a music community of Porsche employees that captivates the audience with their passionate and experimental approach. Regular concertgoers now refer to the band as “the music ambassadors from Zuffenhausen.”
With their special program, specifically compiled for Ludwigsburg, the musicians present an exciting cross-section through 100 years of jazz history. They begin with the first major big band jazz songs, the so-called swing from the founding era of jazz, to the groundbreaking Count Basie with his congenial partner Sammy Nestico. The Porsche Big Band had the great honor of inviting Sammy Nestico to the Porsche Museum and even conducting a workshop with him, working on his compositions, such as his piece "Wind Machine," one of the fastest swing pieces for the fast Porsche Big Band...
The audience will also experience beautiful grooves, some new arrangements of Latin American pieces, or pieces from the pop era that will thrill the audience. And recently, the Porsche Big Band has also included a singer who impressively brings to life the great era of swing and soul as well as songs by Roger Cicero with his voice. So you can be sure that the audience will not be bored in the wonderful Scala Ludwigsburg.
Those who experience the Porsche Big Band live at concerts or open-air events will quickly be swept away by their immense joy of playing. People who contribute during the day to developing and building breathtaking, exclusive sports cars live out their passion as "Porsche owners" once a week in the evening through shared music, creating something special.
Currently, 31 instrumentalists and, since 2023, also a singer make up the Porsche Big Band. They come from the most diverse areas of the company and rehearse exclusively in their free time. As diverse as their music is their professional background: from workers to engineers, from students to retirees. The development of the band shows what constitutes Porsche's success: learning from and with each other, openness and respect, as well as the great passion and tireless drive to continuously work together to make something unique even better.
The W&W Campus Big Band
Corporate big bands are mainly known from the industry. Since 2018, the W&W-Campus Big Band has emerged as a new player from the financial services sector. The initiator of the project within the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group (W&W) is Jürgen Vater, head of W&W IT. The over 25 musicians come from all areas and hierarchy levels of the company and rehearse together in the new W&W-Campus in Kornwestheim.
Jürgen Bothner, an experienced and successful big band conductor from the Stuttgart region, has taken over the leadership of the ensemble. In addition to performances at W&W-Campus, the band delighted a large audience for the first time in October 2018 at the Cannstatter Wasen. The repertoire ranges from swing classics to contemporary Latin & soul hits. The big band is to gradually become an important cultural ambassador of the W&W Group – this is also where the "Big Band Battle" takes place in the Scala.
