Benefizkonzert des Polizeiorchester Bayern - Benefizkonzert anlässlich des 700-jährigen Wombacher Dorfjubiläums 2025
Symphonic wind music of the highest quality for a charitable purpose – this is what the Police Orchestra of Bavaria stands for this evening under the direction of the chief conductor of the Bavarian Police, Mr. Johann Mösenbichler.
The Police Orchestra of Bavaria, based in the state capital Munich, is the professional symphonic wind orchestra of the Bavarian Police. It was founded in 1951 in Rebdorf near Eichstätt and can look back on a dynamic development over its more than 65-year history. Originally consisting of 30 police officers, it has evolved over the decades into a concert wind orchestra with 45 trained professional musicians. Since 2006, the Police Orchestra of Bavaria has been under the direction of the chief conductor of the Bavarian Police, Johann Mösenbichler.
The Police Orchestra of Bavaria sees itself as a link between the police and citizens. It is committed to the greater good by performing up to 60 benefit concerts annually for social, charitable, and cultural purposes in cooperation with organizers from all over Bavaria and beyond.
700 years of Wombach – on the occasion of this grand anniversary in 2025, the Police Orchestra of Bavaria will perform a large benefit concert in the Lohr Town Hall. The proceeds from the concert will primarily benefit the extensive voluntary youth work of the Wombach associations. This has a long tradition and exceptionally high significance among cultural associations, sports clubs, and the fire department. The proceeds from the benefit concert help to further promote and enhance this youth work.
The Police Orchestra of Bavaria is thus responsible for the public relations of the Bavarian Police, contributing to image maintenance, closeness to citizens, recruiting new talent, as well as child and youth prevention. Furthermore, the ensemble is deployed by the Bavarian State Government and the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior and Integration for representative occasions. To meet these diverse functions, the Police Orchestra of Bavaria strives to perform concerts in as many different locations as possible—from multi-purpose halls to churches to large concert halls—in order to appeal to and inspire a wide audience.
The repertoire of the Police Orchestra of Bavaria is very extensive and includes original compositions of symphonic wind music as well as arrangements of classical overtures, operettas, film music, musicals, concert marches, and excerpts from operas. The instrumental versatility of the musicians allows for the formation of various smaller ensembles in addition to the large wind orchestra. These chamber music groups of the Police Orchestra exclusively perform during musical framing of state ceremonial events.
