SARDINIEN – Trauminsel mit Karibikfeeling
LIVE-Panorama-Multivision von Michael Fleck
Turquoise blue sea, lonely sandy beaches, rugged rock formations, centuries-old shepherd culture, and stone witnesses of the ancient Nuragic culture – this diversity makes Sardinia unique in Europe.
It is full of scenic contrasts, and every traveler will find their favorite spot here. The beaches are so numerous that one can have a "private bay" for a day. Sports are a big deal in Sardinia; it is a perfect "playground" for outdoor enthusiasts. For wind and kite surfers, the island offers one of the best surf spots in the Mediterranean. Climbers find their challenges in thousands of climbing routes on the steep walls of the eastern coast. Hikers can walk into the 500-meter deep gorge of Gorroppu and explore deserted, untouched paths in the hinterland.
For two months in spring and late summer, travel photographer and adventurer Michael Fleck has traveled through Sardinia. Brilliant photographs in a 3:1 panorama format and spectacular video sequences, made possible by the use of drones, take the viewer to the dream island.
In the lively capital Cagliari, the joy of life in Sardinia pulses, and once a year, traditional costume and folklore groups come to the city, transforming it into a colorful display of traditional Sardinian customs. Northwest of Cagliari lies the enchanting Costa Verde: a wild dune landscape, sand stretching to the horizon, and abandoned mining facilities. Between the two most beautiful towns on the island, Bosa and Alghero, runs the most picturesque coastal road of Sardinia. Coral processing has a long tradition in Alghero. In a small workshop, we see how jewelry and artworks are created. At Capo Caccia, we descend into the underworld; 650 steps lead down into the Neptune cave. Castelsardo delights with its prominent location and medieval town layout. The eroded granite rocks at Capo Testa, far in the north, are one of the most spectacular rock landscapes in Sardinia, with whimsical shapes inspiring the imagination.
We experience real Caribbean vibes on a boat tour through the Maddalena archipelago. Here, the beaches are even whiter, the water even more turquoise, and one can only wish for the palm trees. A challenging paddle tour along the eastern coast beneath the steep cliffs in the Gulf of Orosei awaits. Huge karst caves and the crescent-shaped beach of the enchanting Cala Luna captivate us. On a hike on the plateau of Gesturi, we see the last wild horses of an ancient Sardinian breed. In the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Su Nuraxi, we dive into the history of the Nuragic culture. The conical fortress towers are the landmarks of Sardinia. Nowhere else in the world is there anything comparable!
