Ganes – Vives!
Vives – translated from Ladin simply means: "You shall live!" This expression is often used to toast in a sociable round. But for the Ladin band Ganes, "VIVES" is much more than just a drinking toast. It is an expression of the will to live, a vibrant hymn to life itself.
The eighth studio album by Ganes, "VIVES", takes us on a fascinating journey through the lively Ladin culture and the picturesque Alpine landscape. It is pure joy of life. The music of "VIVES" is as rustic as it is refined. A touch of Frida Kahlo permeates the melodies, as mariachi trumpets, guitars, and violins meet yodels and laments. The songs come across as lively and daring – one can almost imagine the musicians jumping, singing, and dancing on a table in the local "ostaria".
The songs on "VIVES" are full of stories and memories of life in the village, of those who have gone and those who have returned, mementos of traditions and the wisdom of the "Elders", interspersed with humor, superstition, and self-irony.
The inspiration for this album comes from the old core of La Val, an idyllic place surrounded by majestic mountains and centuries-old history. "VIVES" is a deep insight into the Ladin soul and the wisdom that arises from experiences and tales.
