Bananafishbones - Tour 2025
Bananafishbones
„ON TOUR 2025“
More than an incredible 25 years have passed since the Bananafishbones made their way into the top league of the national indie-rock scene with songs that have now become classics, such as “Come to Sin” and “Easy Day.” Since then, the trio from Bad Tölz has been regarded as “one of the best live bands in Germany” (SZ) and, after over three decades of band history, remains as creative and passionate as ever. On their Never Ending Tour across the country, brothers Sebastian (vocals and bass) and Peter Horn (guitar), together with drummer Florian Rein, discover musical new territory with unbroken enthusiasm and seemingly boundless energy at every live show, revealing fascinating and unexpected sides to not only well-known, sometimes long-buried musical gems, but also carrying the unique Fishbones sound with their new songs into previously unknown spheres.
Although the last regular album “12 Songs in One Day” from 2012 is already quite a while back, fans have had numerous opportunities to see that the band has lost none of its drive and power through five live CDs and a Best Of album in the meantime. Additionally, the individual members have repeatedly made headlines in recent times in various formations, further diversifying their musical spectrum: Sebastian sings Bavarian ballads with Dreiviertelblut, Florian shakes up brass festivals between Italy and Norway with The Heimatdamisch, and Peter is a sought-after film music composer, among other things. Yet despite all the success with their own projects, the three exceptional musicians still find their creative nucleus in Bananafishbones, where diverse styles and influences converge and can bloom anew. Earthy country rock meets melancholic post-grunge, while occasional trip hop and electronic touches join in with the slightly eccentric psychedelic sound - “sometimes bulky and unconventional, sometimes quirky and above all, delightfully idiosyncratic” (Tölzer Kurier).
Their charming individuality and unbreakable solidarity as musicians and people are the poles from which the band develops its almost magnetic pull, driving them to constantly explore new possibilities together. The only criterion is always the opportunity to test new sounds and new forms of expression. So, alongside contributions to various film soundtracks (“Who Dies First, Lives Longer,” “The Wild Guys,” “Groupies Don't Stay for Breakfast”) and stage music for productions at the Munich Schauburg Theater (“Scuderi,” “Fahrenheit 451,” “East of Eden”), two musicals for children have also been created (“Lieselotte and the Vanished Apple Pie,” “Rico, Oscar, and the Deep Shadows”). The music of the Bananafishbones thus captivates an audience that, like the band itself, operates beyond all cultural patterns and age boundaries.
Live, the three, who conquered countless stages across Europe in their storm-and-stress years, are still searching for the magic of the moment that defines the charm of every concert for them, whether on a large festival stage, at intimate unplugged gigs, or at one of their traditional concerts, which they perform every year before Christmas at the sold-out Tölz Kurhaus. In these moments, it is always anew and personally significant for each person in the audience what the band sings in their song “Glam”: “You feel good but I feel better!”
