FreiKultur 2025 presents special film experiences in the courtyard of the CD-Kaserne, supported by Sparkasse Celle – Gifhorn - Wolfsburg.
In the enchanting courtyard of the Celler Kulturzentrum, the audience can experience true cult films on eight evenings. Guests can take a seat on deck chairs, picnic benches, or their own picnic blankets and enjoy this special film experience.

Ritter der Kokosnuss (Monty Python and the Holy Grail, 1975):
One of the most famous and anarchistic comedies in film history – “Ritter der Kokosnuss” is an epic yet completely crazy quest for the Holy Grail. Sir Arthur and his brave knights ride through medieval England, encountering bizarre trials and legendary creatures like the “Knochige Mütze” and the “Schwarzen Ritter.” But instead of encountering majestic knightly romance, viewers are confronted with the most absurd humor ever to parody the medieval genre. Whether coconuts as horse gallops or a sword-wielding knight who continues to fight without limbs – Ritter der Kokosnuss is the epitome of Monty Python’s unique humor.
Das Leben des Brian (Life of Brian, 1979):
This film tells the story of Brian Cohen, a man who was born on the same day as Jesus and struggles throughout his life with the misunderstandings and absurdities of fate. Monty Python presents “Das Leben des Brian” as a divine satire on religion, society, and human confusion. With brilliant irony, it tells the story of a “normal” man who is revered by everyone as the “messianic savior,” although he is in no way destined to save the world. Guests are welcome to arrive a little earlier to get comfortable. The courtyard will be “open” for the audience 30 minutes before the start. There are plenty of seating options such as deck chairs, picnic benches, and folding chairs available.
Picnic baskets with food are welcome, and there will be a selection of drinks available on-site, so please refrain from bringing your own drinks. The staff of the CD-Kaserne will remind guests of this if necessary during the event.
