Ronja Maltzahn - Butterfly & Wolf- Tour
She played the "cello" for Udo Lindenberg when she was awarded the Panic Prize for German newcomers the summer before last. The following year, the song poet and producer was honored by the Hanns Seidel Foundation; most people probably still know her name from the debate about her dreadlocks the previous year. Dancingly, she transitions from cello to ukulele, to piano and synthesizer, her voice weaves threads of poetry into the air. She tells stories of being on the road, of joy in life and deep connectedness. Seven years ago, Ronja met her Argentine partner and bassist Fede in Italy; since then, the two have played many hundreds of concerts with various formations of their music family (called "BlueBird Orchestra"), traveled to numerous countries, and translated their songs into different languages. "If it's beautiful, don't ask where the path leads you..."
THE MUSIC.
The first musical chapter of BUTTERFLY AND WOLF. WOLF stands for everything loud and powerful in her life, her pack, her team, the WE. In contrast to everything quiet, tender, inwardly turned, deeply personal. Ronja's delicate voice is framed by grand soundscapes, electronic synth-vocoders clash with orchestral highlights with multi-voiced choirs. A pinch of Billie Eilish and Aurora's ethereal handwriting, paired with the orchestral grandeur of Hans Zimmer.
THE PICTURE BOOK.
12 songs. 85 hand-painted images. A book. A story that speaks of friendship and solidarity, of an inner strength that can carry us through the darkest times in life. Do you remember the animated music video LIKE A WOLF by Tanya? Tetiana She Wolf. In February 2022, the war broke out, this great human madness, insanity, nonsense. In February 2025, our work will be released into the world, in memory of this turning point. As a dedication TO PEACE. MAKE ART NOT WAR.
THE TOUR.
LIVE, Ronja and Fede present the album on stage, together with Emily (keys), Kai (drums) and a variety of instruments, visual projections and light play, personal anecdotes and poetry... and the most important part is YOU, which is what emerges in the room when people come together and listen to each other. Will you sing along?
