With empathy, Kristine Bilkau explores the pressing questions of our time in "Halbinsel".
A home near Husum. Here lives Annett, in her late forties. Her daughter Linn, in her mid-twenties, is energetically working on a reforestation project. For Annett, her daughter embodies hope and the future. But at a conference, Linn suddenly collapses. Annett brings her exhausted daughter back home. What was planned as a short recovery stay turns into months of living together. This not only pits two generations against each other but also different ways of life. With a fine sense of interpersonal dynamics, Kristine Bilkau explores current themes: the responsibility of the older generation for the state of the world and the younger generation's desire to fill their lives with meaning.
Kristine Bilkau, born in 1974, studied history and American studies in Hamburg and New Orleans. She made her debut with "Die Glücklichen". Her latest novel "Nebenan" (2022) was shortlisted for the German Book Prize. With her book "Wasserzeiten. Über das Schwimmen", she was already a guest at the Literaturhaus in 2023.
