Truck Stop - Freiheit pur Tour 2025
Truck Stop celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2023. Only a few bands can look back on such a success story. They have continuously set milestones on their way to success. “We are proud of what we have achieved on our journey, and we are delighted that fans and the media have crowned us the most successful German country band of all time,” says band founder and long-time member Teddy Ibing with pride. Reason enough to continue celebrating in 2025!
With 9 weeks in the official pop charts, Truck Stop crowned their 50th anniversary in 2023 with the self-titled studio album. Due to high demand, there will be a new studio album “Freiheit Pur” in 2025, accompanied by a large release tour that will usher in the next 50 years for Truck Stop. In addition to the brand-new songs from the new album, the tour will of course also feature the big hits that the whole nation knows and loves, including “Dave Dudley,” “Der wilde wilde Westen,” and “Take it easy, altes Haus.”
The “Cowboys from the Waterkant” produced their new album once again in their hometown of Hamburg under the direction of Jörn Heilbut from the Hamburg cult band Jeremy Days, who has previously worked with Annett Louisan, Maite Kelly, Santiano, Marianne Rosenberg, Ben Zucker, and many others. He is also responsible for Truck Stop's comeback album from 2015, “Männer sind so.”
After five decades in the music business, the band can look back on a more than remarkable history. Truck Stop is a legend and the undisputed pioneer of German-speaking country music: The band has released more than 45 studio albums since 1973 and sold over 20 million records. With well over 6,000 concerts and festivals in Germany, Austria & Switzerland, the band has successfully graced the stage. Simply unmistakable and that for three generations of country fans.
Founded in March 1973 in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, Truck Stop soon played as the opening act for stars like Johnny Cash, Fats Domino, and Chuck Berry. When they decided to use German lyrics in the late 1970s, they finally advanced to become the largest German country band. Having already achieved gold from the singles from their first German country album “Zu Hause,” numerous other hits and unforgettable tours followed in the last 50 years, including performances in the homeland of country music, the USA, with Truck Stop being the first and only German band inducted into the Country Hall of Fame.
Although it hasn’t always been easy for Truck Stop in 50 years and they faced many setbacks due to the deaths of band members - solidarity, fairness, respect, and country music have always kept Truck Stop together - no one is thinking about quitting anytime soon.
Now, alongside the founding members Wolfgang “Teddy” Ibing (drums, entertainment) and Knut Bewersdorff (pedal steel, dobro, vocals, guitar), are frontman singer and guitarist Andreas Cisek, David Rick (lead guitar), Tim Reese (fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin), and Uwe Frenzel (bass, accordion, backing vocals) on stage.
