ES WAR EINMAL und war auch nicht …
Visual theater
Most fairy tales are very old and go back further than any other literary forms in human history. They have been passed down from generation to generation and are, despite their simplicity, rich in imagination, wonders, and also admonitions. Looking back, childhood is often associated with fairy tales, and almost everyone knows the comforting pleasure of hearing the same magical story again and again, in which everything magically leads to a happy ending. Heinrich Heine recalls his nurse, who told him about the goose girl and the talking horse head, in "Germany. A Winter's Tale". The internationally cast ensemble of Ton und Kirschen brings to life the special magic inherent in fairy tales to tell fantastic stories. They transform classic fairy tales with puppets, masks, dance, acting, and live music into highly lively, contemporary theater, where even the allegorical warnings contained in the fairy tales are not overlooked.
The Ton und Kirschen traveling theater was founded in 1992 in Glindow in Potsdam-Mittelmark by Margarete Biereye and David Johnston after 20 years of theater experience with the English "Footsbarn Travelling Theatre". Today, the company includes nine actors and musicians from Germany, England, France, Wales, Italy, and Colombia. Ton und Kirschen performs frequently in Germany, especially in the state of Brandenburg, but is also often invited to international festivals, such as in France, Poland, India, Colombia, Korea, and Morocco.
