Die Well-Brüder - Bayern Unplugged
The three brothers Stofferl, Michael, and Karl Well sing about Bavaria and the rest of the world.
They invite you on an excursion through the absurdities of the Alpine regions, between ski lifts, alpinism, tropical, hometown crimes, hypocrisy, and cementing.
A virtuoso-played fire station meets Bavarian rap, heartwarming yodeling meets rustic brutal dance, all in the tried-and-true tradition of Biermösl Blosn with familiar musical sounds and satirical, sharp lyrics in the local dialect.
They have Scottish ancestors, Bavarian roots, and an open-minded disposition. Thus, traditional music is refined with all sorts of global influences and presented on accordion, trumpet, alphorn, a pot for bee humming, and who knows what else.
It is the seemingly cozy attire for settling scores with the political class, with crisis mismanagement, with mask dealers, and other bloated local heroes with delusions of grandeur.
When the Well brothers take to the "reading from the book of Bavaria," one can almost smell the incense. They speak of prophets with a greed for profit, a minister-president with messianic tendencies, and the insatiable Ruach.
They sing against dullness and populism. They do not want to surrender their beautiful homeland, language, and music without a fight to the appropriation by political forces. The three anarcho-brothers respond to the ever-new mutations with their own answer: the Bavarian variant: nonconformist, satirical, and always humorous. Well played!
