Frank Sodemann (Conductor)
Born in Hamburg, he received his first instrumental lessons at the age of 5. Already during his school years, he trained as a church musician and constantly took on organist duties throughout the Pinneberg district and Hamburg. After graduating from high school, he studied orchestral conducting in Hanover with Prof. Eiji Oue. He completed this study in 2007 with a diploma and received his concert examination in conducting in 2008. He was then engaged at the Landestheater Detmold. From 2010 to 2016, he was engaged at the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg, most recently as Kapellmeister, assistant to the General Music Director, and solo repetiteur. In this role, he conducted well over 120 performances of the repertoire in concert, opera, operetta, musical, and ballet. Since 2016, he has been the managing director of the Dettelbach/Schwarzach Music School. He continues to work as a freelance conductor and piano accompanist. Numerous engagements have already taken him throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.
Gerhardt Boesl (Arranger) was born in Germany but grew up in the USA and France. As a child, he showed outstanding musical abilities, which formed the focus of his academic education. Although he composed and arranged for all instruments, he developed a special preference for the bassoon. At the age of twelve, he began bassoon lessons with the famous concert bassoonist Paul Tucci and later continued his education with the renowned solo bassoonist George Zukerman. During his studies, he won international music competitions in the USA three times.
In the early 70s, Gerhardt Boesl moved to France, where he played bassoon in Paris and the surrounding area and completed his compositional skills with Nadja Boulanger. He worked in France, the USA, England, and Germany, with his time in England under conductor Sir Simon Rattle being particularly formative. He regularly performed as a concert bassoonist in Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.
As a composer and arranger, he worked in Hollywood with greats like Bill Douglas, James Horner, and James Newton Howard. There, he contributed, among other things, to the orchestration of Hollywood hits like Legends of the Fall, Braveheart, Titanic, Avatar, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
