Literary-musical excursion through Ukrainian culture
The Berlin actors Jan Uplegger and Mareile Metzner guide the audience through the rich history and multifaceted culture of Ukraine. In an exciting combination of literature and music, a vivid picture of this country in the heart of Europe is painted – far beyond the tragic news of the current war. Texts by Ukrainian writers and historical testimonies that illuminate the struggle for freedom and democracy are at the center of this event.
The evening is musically accompanied by the refugee Ukrainian singers Tetiana Nadolinska, Iryna Razin-Kravchenko, and Nataliia Kuprynenko. Together with the Berlin-based musician Daniil Zverkhanovsky, who plays the electric guitar, they create an impressive atmosphere and weave musical sounds with the literary performances.
This event offers an opportunity to rediscover Ukraine from a cultural perspective and to engage with the country's complex history – from the times of the free Cossack republics to the "Revolution of Dignity" on the Maidan in Kyiv. In addition to cultural enrichment, the evening also serves to show solidarity with the Ukrainian population.
Admission is free; however, the organizers request donations for the benefit of Ukraine.
