Marie Diot - Unwahrscheinliche Hits
Marie Diot is a singer-songwriter. Her music is a mix of catchy indie-pop, elegant chanson, and a lot of fun. At her concerts, audiences can enjoy quirky, humorous announcements and songs that could be hits. While it may be unlikely that they actually become hits, as they deal with topics that may not seem immediately worthy of a hit - such as intercom systems, lost front door keys, and fishing without hooks - Marie manages to sing about even such bizarre topics with her unbiased view and cheerful wit in a way that resonates with everyone in the audience by the end of the show. What Marie has to say is always immediately understood, prompting further reflection.
In 2017, Marie Diot released her debut album "Penguin in a Tutu - Not sure if he's a dancer." The follow-up album "Apple in the whirl of eternal love" was released in November 2020. In it, the singer-songwriter presents herself musically and thematically versatile, balancing skillfully between melancholy and silliness, indie-pop and chanson, all tied together by her unique style. Supported by the fabulous multi-instrumentalist Fabian Großberg, her concerts have taken her all over Germany and Switzerland.
In 2014, Marie Diot was a prize winner at the "Junge Musik-Szene" encounter, in 2015 at the "Nahaufnahme," another support award of the Berliner Festspiele, and made it to the finals of the German Song Contest "Troubadour" in 2017.
She won the Plattsounds Contest in 2019 and was nominated for the Prix Pantheon in 2020.
In 2021, she took part as a scholarship holder of the GEMA Foundation in the "Celler Schule" (Masterclass for lyricists) and was awarded the Hans-Bradtke Sponsorship Prize, as well as the Sponsorship Prize of the Liederbestenliste.
Since 2022, she has been the co-leader of the singer-songwriter school SAGO.
In 2023, she was awarded the Walther-von-der-Vogelweide Prize. In 2024, she won the Tuttlinger Krähe (2nd place) and the Hamburger Comedy Pokal (3rd place).
