ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE
Vode is a vocal ensemble that focuses on jazz and pop music. Since 2022, the ensemble has been performing nationwide from the North (Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg) to the South (Black Forest Voices Festival, Freiburg). The singers have been closely connected musically and personally since their studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold. The ensemble is led by Katharina Gärtner and Simon Herten, both of whom also sing. The rehearsal work has been complemented by workshops, including those with Kim Nazarian (New York Voices/USA), Tine Fris-Ronsfeld (Vocal Line/DK), and James Rose (Accent/UK).
The musicians of vode perform in their program “True Colors” selected current pop songs by Coldplay, Yebba, or OneRepublic as well as pop classics by Sting, Elton John, or the Beatles. They sing about the strong colors and delicate shades that life has to offer: about loneliness and encounters, about inner demons and lightness, about loss and loving memories.
In addition to pieces performed with full choir strength, there are also characterful solos and gentle arrangements performed by smaller ensemble formations with and without instruments. The audience can look forward to experiencing the full range of intimate sounds to strong, voluminous sounds in multifaceted arrangements.
The concert is supported by the Kultursekretariat NRW Gütersloh.
Doors open: 6:45 PM, concert introduction "The Third Ear," 7 PM, with Andreas Daams
