The Doctorella:

Daniel Benyamin:
His name, at least his many musical projects and collaborations, is well known in the indie world, for example through bands like SEA+AIR, Jumbo Jet, Toiling Midgets, or his work with Sufjan Stevens, Patrick Watson, or The Divine Comedy – just to name a few. In addition, Daniel Benyamin has composed works for theater, dance, and film soundtracks from arte to "Tatort." Later he took a fresh start as a solo artist.
He calls his music "Ghost Pop," which emerges from a upbringing between Bach cantatas and a secret obsession with American wave bands, from the fragility of ambient, energetic rhythms, atmospheric melodies, plastic synth sounds, dark lo-fi folk, and the songwriting of the seventies and eighties. The multi-instrumentalist brings with him his second solo album "Solitarity" with beautiful and catchy pop songs alongside atmospheric, classically inspired sound cascades.

“Singer-songwriter or jazz vocalist? Who still asks that today, especially when musicians like Claudia Vorbach successfully break down all barrier fences between the genres,” writes the magazine “Jazz Thing” (Reinhard Köchl 2019). In her third album, the Tübingen musician sings passionately, occasionally plays the western guitar, shares emotional worlds, tells stories, or philosophizes from darkness to light.
The predecessor album received international critical acclaim. She was compared to Madeleine Peyroux and Norah Jones, while her great individuality was also noted: “Germany's answer to Madeleine Peyroux. Genuinely quirky and unique.” (US Magazine All About Jazz, 2019).
She is fortunate to have found a fantastic band, consisting of three not-so-unknown jazz musicians from the southern German jazz scene: Martin Sörös on piano, Axel Kühn on double bass, and Felix Schrack on drums navigate effortlessly and creatively through her music of jazz, folk, and blues in the third album.

The London Classic Rock band will once again tour the German-speaking area at the beginning of 2025. After the "Live Dates" Tour in 2024, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the album of the same name, "The Ash" are dedicating the 2025 tour to the motto "The Wish List Tour."

Behind the tour motto is the idea that WISHBONE ASH fans themselves can contribute to the setlist. Some rarely heard songs, requested by fans through a social media survey conducted by the band, will be played during the concert evenings. WISHBONE ASH will bring a mix of their classics, rare song treasures, and newer songs from the recent past to the stage.

Formed in 1969 in London during the bubbling birth hours of the Progressive Rock scene, WISHBONE ASH took advantage of the fertile musical environment, creating a distinctive brand of melodic rock sound and becoming one of the most influential guitar bands in rock history. Energy and melody have made "The ASH" an act that is hard to surpass, currently being discovered by a new generation of loyal rock fans. Over the years, the band has experimented with various musical genres, from folk, blues, and jazz to pedal-to-the-metal rock and electronica. Regardless of the style, WISHBONE ASH's unmistakable hallmark is the interplay of two lead guitars, influencing bands like Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Maiden, and Opeth. Their album "Argus" made music history.

As true road warriors, the band covers around 30,000 miles annually - equivalent to about one lap around the Earth - earning them global recognition and lasting popularity. Fascinating, ethereal, and majestic, Mammal Hands (saxophonist Jordan Smart, pianist Nick Smart, and drummer Rob Turner) has created a refreshingly original sound from a rich source of inspirations: drawing from spiritual jazz, as well as North Indian, folk, and classical music, they craft something unmistakable, something of their own.

Hailing from Norwich, one of the most isolated and easternmost cities in the UK, they have found their own path away from the musical mainstream, developing their unique sound during long improvised rehearsals.

All three members equally contribute to the writing process: a process that prefers to foster group dynamics over the lone wolf. Their records are charming and beautiful stories, while their hypnotic live shows have made them one of the most exciting bands in Europe thanks to their unique lineup. Their third album Shadow Work – which is also their first self-produced album – was released in 2017, followed by Captured Spirits in 2020.

Their fifth studio album Gift from the Trees was released in March 2023. GFTT offers a new perspective on the trio's unique music. The band had the opportunity to work late into the night to create a deeper and more organic experience. This approach benefits both their writing process and their trance-like live performances. While part of the music was pre-composed and even performed live, improvisations also played an important role in the recording this time.

When Heinrich Del Core tells his everyday stories in his red shoes, you want to exclaim: "Stop it! That absolutely never happened; he must have made it all up!" But all these incidents, which we can laugh at so incredulously and heartily, have been experienced by him himself. Heinrich Del Core is a magnet that attracts bizarre everyday situations and then presents them to us with his uniquely witty charm.

And now the time has come: Heinrich is going to be a grandpa. Or to put it differently: his wife is going to be a grandma!

The new situation turns everything upside down. Overnight, Del Core's world is different. He buys a stroller that costs as much as a moped used to and a Thermomix today. He downloads baby apps for his wife and bakes mother cakes for family coffee gatherings. Then there's even a wedding, environmentally conscious and vegan. But real joy doesn't quite come forth when you are supposed to throw unpeeled whole grain rice at the bride and groom.

But with grandparents, many problems just vanish into thin air. For example, the bedroom: how often has restful sleep been disrupted by the cold feet of his wife, the eternal struggle for the duvet, or because the man competes in volume and air pressure with a leaf blower? When the grandchild comes to visit on the weekend, Heinrich simply has to move out.

Naturally, this affects his self-esteem. And doesn’t "grandpa" sound totally old? He actually feels younger - except in the morning when getting up. Sometimes the joints make sounds then. But his wife always lifts his spirits: "Heinrich, you are really fit." She seems to cope with the new situation much better overall. She says: "Being a grandma is like being a mom - only prettier." She never thought about getting older. She once left a note for the kids: "We're at the cemetery." And Heinrich wrote underneath: "But we'll be back."

Yet despite all the changes in his life, this program is a typical Heinrich Del Core evening, as he himself says: "My wife will be a grandma, but I’ll stay the same."

La Palma, the westernmost of the Canary Islands, is a charmingly beautiful small paradise with eternal spring and panoramic sea views almost everywhere. A place where the human soul is naturally closer to higher states and very special inspirations than anywhere else. Since his first visit in the nineties, Götz Widmann dreamed of producing an album here in a 300-year-old Canarian house converted into a studio. A dream that has finally come true. Four musicians, a producer, and a film crew experienced an idyllic month full of harmony, good ideas, and collective moments of happiness. And you can absolutely hear that in the album. One musical highlight follows another, pure diversity of ideas, and never before have Götz Widmann's songs sounded so fresh and lively. When the two founding members of Grobschnitt, "Lupo" (lead guitar) and "Willi Wildschwein" (singer and guitarist), along with Willi's son "Nuki" (guitar, vocals, percussion), announced via video message on April 1st, 2019, that they were finally returning to German stages, it was a long-awaited dream come true for the still large fan base of the legendary band from Hagen.

The desire to do something that had never been done in the band's long history was the driving force behind the "Grobschnitt Acoustic Party" project for the three musicians. The Grobschnitt song classics are performed live with completely new, acoustic arrangements and without much fanfare. For almost two years, the musicians prepared the acoustic project in secret, without even Grobschnitt insiders knowing about it.

The "Grobschnitt Acoustic Party" is a 3-hour emotional journey through the band's 53-year music history, featuring many well-known song classics from albums released between 1972 and 1989. It is presented and celebrated in a close-knit, familial atmosphere. This includes compositions that the band has never or rarely performed live. The program also features the two long tracks "Solar Music" and "Rockpommel's Land" in 30-minute acoustic versions, which are well-known staples of any Grobschnitt performance. The focus of the Grobschnitt Acoustic Party event is solely on the music!

"Listening to these super old 'tunes' in a new guise is simply beautiful, an unforgettable experience," say Grobschnitt fans after the first concerts. Standing ovations followed the cult opener "Vater Schmidt's Wandertag". It was not only the song classics that captivated the enthusiastic audience, but also the typical Grobschnitt humor, which was repeatedly shared between the pieces in the form of anecdotes by the musicians. The three musicians themselves were more than impressed by the suspenseful atmosphere and, after the concert, mingled with their numerous fans for autographs and selfies.

To the delight of Grobschnitt enthusiasts, a purely acoustic studio album featuring song classics of the band was released in May 2022, debuting at number 25 on the German Album Charts. Titled simply "GROBSCHNITT ACOUSTIC ALBUM", the work contains 14 tracks and is a tribute to the band's 50th anniversary. It is also a homage to the loyal fan base, now spanning three generations, whose motto "No Day Without Grobschnitt" has always been and remains a cult favorite.

Henrik Freischlader is still considered a hidden gem for all those who have never heard of him.
The German guitarist and singer has shared stages with B.B. King, Gary Moore, Peter Green, Johnny Winter, Joe Bonamassa, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, and after numerous tours across Europe, he has become indispensable in the international blues scene.

His virtuosic and passionate guitar playing, his rough distinctive voice, and a sense for good grooves have shaped his unmistakable style over the years.
Since 2006, the multi-instrumentalist has released 11 studio albums and 7 live albums, and there is almost always a new album in the works on his label Cable Car Records.

After her successful autumn tour in October 2024, Alin Coen already has the next big news ready: She will be going on tour again in October 2025! Accompanied by her long-time bandmates Fabian Stevens on drums and Philipp Martin on bass, she will perform in Chemnitz, Weiden, Darmstadt, Tübingen, Leverkusen, Lübeck, Worpswede, and Jena. Fans can look forward not only to her profound songs from recent years but also to new, previously unreleased pieces. The presale for the concerts is already underway – secure your tickets quickly!

Alin Coen is known for diving into the depths of emotions and transforming them into music. "I listen to the music that emerges at the piano or guitar and try to find the right words and stories that match the feeling that the music evokes in me," she explains. Her specialty? Allowing feelings! "My inspiration comes from the music itself and from observing my inner world more than from external influences."

Besides music, she is also passionately committed to increasing the visibility of women in the pop industry. "One must always keep in mind that women are disadvantaged due to structural inequality. In my opinion, women, trans* and non-binary persons need to occupy much more significant positions in the music business. The idea is to support each other and offer more opportunities," says Alin, who ensures that her team, from technical support to promotion, is diversely staffed.

Environmental protection has always been close to Alin Coen's heart. After completing her studies in environmental protection engineering in Weimar, she moved to Holland to pursue a master's degree in water management. "For a while, I suddenly found being a musician completely pointless. I thought I had to do something meaningful in life. This planet is burning, and what am I doing about it?" But it quickly becomes clear that music is not so easily removed from the artist's life. "The first thing I did in Holland was to buy a piano from the neighboring shared flat," she laughs. Today, she is fully dedicated to music again and is diligently working on new songs for her upcoming album.

New Model Army released their 16th studio album "Unbroken" on January 26, 2024, which will be presented in 2025 along with a major tour across Europe, the UK, and South America.
The band began writing the album in 2021 against the backdrop of everything happening in a rapidly changing world and in their own lives. Early on, they decided that their first choice for mixing the new album would be the legendary "Tchad Blake."
Now completed: "Not much hits me these days so real. New Model Army hits it for me."
Wonderfully recorded and produced by the band themselves, mixing this album felt like a gift. Full of guitars, cutting vocals, and with an emphasis on bass and drums that characterizes their entire work, Unbroken sounds very much like New Model Army, yet different.
Founded in 1980 in Bradford, New Model Army is storming through its fifth decade and shows no signs of slackening. Just recently, in September 2023, they released their fantastic live double album "Sinfonia" – a unique performance recorded with the Sinfonia Leipzig Orchestra at the Tempodrom in Berlin.

With the song "Restless," the Norwegian band Kakkmaddafakka already made a hit in 2011 that can confidently be called an indie classic – and likely holds a permanent place on the playlist of every indie lover. The band with the impressive name – which means "Party Animals" in Norwegian, and not what one might assume from a German derivation – started making music together during their school days. However, the two brothers Axel and Pål, who are still the singers of the indie band, only released their first album years later together with their friends Jonas and Stian. The debut album of Kakkmaddafakka was called "Down to Earth," released in 2007, which already garnered the band a decent audience in their home country of Norway. The ultimate breakthrough came with the second album "Hest," which also included "Restless." The sunny feel-good indie of the Norwegians reached far beyond the Scandinavian borders – and not least because of the wonderfully playful atmosphere and carefree lightness conveyed in the songs of Kakkmaddafakka. Further albums followed regularly, though in recent times they have lost some of their lightness, instead impressing with indulgent nostalgia. This direction is also reflected in the most recent album "Revelation," which the band released in 2022 – and which the Scandinavians will present alongside older songs on the upcoming extensive European tour. In Germany alone, Kakkmaddafakka invites to a total of nine shows – specifically in November 2025.

With "WHEN NOT NOW, THEN NOW," Rolf Miller will certainly manage once again: elegantly stumbling around the elephant in the room. Because that is his character: stubborn as a sack of cement - which can only be allowed thanks to his humor. Grandiosely ignorant, vital dull, and completely half-informed. As always, the comedian stoically embodies the rock in the surf, confidently looking away, saying everything and yet guaranteeing to say nothing about important topics; and of course noticing everything, except for his own failure. The more everything around him collapses, the more we cannot comprehend how this rooster does not realize what is going on. "He just doesn't notice," one would say in real life.

Fortunately, this publicly dangerous vehicle remains on a stage. "Contrary fascination" once said Roger Willemsen: the viewer can look down when watching the jungle camp and thus indulge. Contrary to the perpetrator. However, Miller succeeds in the "narrow tightrope walk," as he would wrongly call it; representing his character on one hand, but also reflecting our own failure on the other hand; fortunately with his registers of barely heightened satire, with exactly the lightness we know from him - and therefore we do not even immediately notice how he at least numbs the elephant:
“...if not when, uh then ... now ... so uh ... basically ... practically..”

One cannot step into the same river twice, says Heraclitus, all being is becoming. One thinks of the Berlin Brandenburg Airport and realizes: the old Greek was right.
"All being is becoming" - this is the conclusion Urban Priol regularly comes to when he is sitting just before the deadline with his press text.
His new program is also like a river in constant change. The cabaret artist closely follows the steady flow of political events, even if particularly the grand coalition politics in Germany over the last few years resemble more of a reservoir than a flowing body of water. Priol is always in tune with the times; he often mocks faster than his shadow can think, spontaneously and currently.
