Als Jude in Deutschland - Ein Abend mit Matthias Brandt (Lesung)
Live music: Andreas Skouras (piano)
"It has happened, and therefore it can happen again." (Primo Levi)
Jean Améry and Jakob Wassermann, Arnold Zweig and Ruth Klüger, Hilde Domin, Primo Levi and many other Jewish authors experienced the Holocaust. Those who survived gave a voice to the horror, they reported on the failures of civil society, on growing hatred and exclusion. Their texts are historical documents and warnings at the same time; their testimonies are more important today than ever. We will hear excerpts from autobiographical texts and letters, read by Matthias Brandt, and musically accompanied by Andreas Skouras (Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, among others) on piano.
