RICHIE ARNDT - TENNESSEE UND ALABAMA - EINE MUSIKALISCHE REISE IN DEN TIEFEN SÜDEN DER USA
After his journey to the Mississippi to the origins of Blues, Soul, Rock´n`Roll and Jazz music, Richie Arndt will once again travel to the South of the USA in 2023 to embark on another musical quest. What could be more obvious than exploring the "Soundtrack of America" – which can be found in Tennessee with its music hotspots Memphis, TN, and Nashville, TN. There lies the heart of American music, and the journey continues to "Sweet Home Alabama", to the birthplaces of Southern Rock in the Muscle Shoals studios, to a Gospel service in Birmingham, AL, and to Blues and Mardi Gras music on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, AL.
The journey starts in Memphis in West Tennessee on the Mississippi River, where Elvis Presley recorded his first records in the tiny "Sun Studio" and lived until his death in 1977 at his estate "Graceland", one of the most visited private homes in the USA. The historic "Beale Street" is the blues mile of the USA, and the "Stax Museum" celebrates the label that sparked the second great musical revolution after Rock 'n' Roll in Memphis with Memphis Soul.
The journey continues through Tennessee: the destination for fans of Bluegrass, Country, Americana, and Blues music, also known for good whiskey and delicious cuisine. Tina Turner's birthplace Nutbush and venerable addresses like the world's oldest radio show "Grand Ole Opry" and the "Ryman Auditorium" in Nashville, the epicenter of Country music, are on the itinerary.
Next is the region of "Muscle Shoals" in Northern Alabama. There are a variety of famous music studios where world stars still come together today. From the Rolling Stones to Cher, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, many Country and Soul greats, to the Southern Rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd... countless world hits have been recorded here.
In Birmingham, the largest city in Alabama, Richie Arndt visits a service at the "16th Street Baptist Church", where in September 1963 a Ku Klux Klan bombing killed four African American girls. This attack was a sad culmination of the unrest against the integration of schools in Alabama. In the following months, civil rights history was made here.
The journey then continues through Montgomery to the final destination: Mobile, "the Beauty on the Bay", on the Alabama Gulf Coast. A city full of Spanish and French traditions. Mardi Gras, the carnival of the South, is as old here as in New Orleans, and Mobile is also a city full of music and joy!
Those who have experienced Richie Arndt's program "Mississippi" live will be eagerly awaiting the continuation of this unique live program with pictures, stories, and music full of authenticity from the multi-award-winning guitarist, singer, and storyteller Richie Arndt.
