Die Vogtland-Revue - Gastspiel des Theater Zwickau-Plauen
Commissioned work for the Theater Plauen-Zwickau by Sabine Michel and Sebastian Undisz
The people of Vogtland typically have a clear idea of "home." The specifics of the landscape, the uniqueness of the language, typical customs, and the contemporary history – four regions shape this concept. As in other parts of the world, Vogtland can only flourish when those born here love to stay or return and change the land according to their needs and visions. Young people leave their Vogtland home, usually for professional development. What remains is a deep-seated connection to the region, which is contradicted by the image of Vogtland as a patriarchally shaped, homely, but somehow outdated area inhabited by older people. It is no coincidence that the main character of our revue is a young woman named Marie, who is sent on a time-travel journey by the Moosweiblein to explore various stories of Vogtland. A revue about Vogtland that offers a loving, yet also lovingly critical look at the land, its inhabitants, and its history. Sabine Michel, an award-winning documentary filmmaker with regular theater appearances, portrayed the Vogtland member of parliament (and current vice president of the Bundestag) Yvonne Magwas for her latest film "Frauen in Landschaften," intensively engaging with Vogtland and falling in love with this region. Since 2006, the Adolf Grimme Award winner has been working as a writer and director for film, television, and theater. Her first book "Die anderen Leben" was published in 2020, followed by the second volume "Es ist einmal" in 2024.
