Guitar Night - mit Jaques Stotzem und Christian Straubes Klangzauber Manufaktur
Jacques Stotzem is one of the most versatile fingerstyle guitarists in the current guitar scene. Born in 1959 in Verviers, the Belgian guitarist has recorded 18 CDs and is considered an absolute favorite by many fans of acoustic guitar music. As a regular guest at all major festivals, Jacques Stotzem has earned a considerable fan base with his perfectly delivered fingerstyle guitar playing, his sensitive sense of melody, and his fine temperament. His concert tours take him through Europe, Canada, and Asia.
The legendary guitar manufacturer "Martin" has honored him with a signature model, and since early 2023, he has been an official AER endorser.
His CD “Catch the Spirit” featuring highly remarkable arrangements of rock classics made it into the Belgian charts in 2009 and remained listed for 41 weeks; an event in the acoustic guitar scene!
Over the years, Stotzem has developed a distinctly recognizable sound on the acoustic guitar and convinces both in his typical, atmospheric ballads and in quite powerful rock adaptations of Hendrix or Gallagher pieces.
His current album “Histoires sans mots” is inspired by the joy of finally being on tour again after seemingly endless times of crisis and sharing music with the audience in concert halls! For Jacques Stotzem, this remains the essential goal of his musical life.
Christian Straube's Klangzauber Manufaktur
Acoustic Guitar: Christian Straube
Horn: Laurance Mahady
Percussion: Daniel Fleischmann
The guitarist Christian Straube is known for his creative compositions, which come across like played poetry. The delicate sound structures of the classically trained musician tell stories from a long-forgotten world. Composed of classical elements, rock, folk, and jazz, the composer Christian Straube can no longer be categorized into a common genre. But that’s not all that defines the musician.
His new ideas for unconventional line-ups are already circulating in the music world. In this case, Laurance Mahady plays the horn in a dialogue with Christian Straube's guitar.
The horn is the brass instrument with the largest pitch range. The warm tones and melodies of the horn wrap around the harmonics of Christian Straube's guitar – a sound that has never been heard before. A sound structure of two instruments that fit perfectly together, harmonizing melodies – yes, that attract and live music together. The American, who lives in Germany, is a lecturer at the Mannheim Music School and plays, among other things, in the Kurpfälzisches Chamber Orchestra Mannheim. The well-known drummer Daniel Fleischmann from Speyer and the surrounding area invigorates Straube's compositions with his skillfully refreshing playing.
