„Der Billabongkönig“ erzählt die spannende und humorvolle Geschichte eines ungewöhnlichen Krokodils. Ben, der mächtige König des Billabong, hat ein Problem: Er hat Angst vor dem Zahnarzt! Als der herablassende Zahnarzt Kaukasius seine Machtposition ausnutzt und dunkle Pläne schmiedet, beginnt ein turbulentes Abenteuer. Unterstützung erhält Ben von einem jungen und mutigen Krokodilwächtervogel, dem kleinen Ben. Diese Vögel haben eine wichtige Aufgabe: Sie befreien die Zähne der Krokodile von lästigen Parasiten und fungieren dabei als treue Helfer und Beschützer.
Der kleine Ben zeigt in dieser Geschichte großen Mut und Einfallsreichtum. Gemeinsam kämpfen sie gegen die Machenschaften von Kaukasius und müssen sich gegen einige Bedrohungen zur Wehr setzen. Dabei lernen sie, dass Macht nicht immer in den Händen eines Einzelnen liegen sollte.

Das Stück, welches 2023 für den Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreis nominiert war, wird von uns erstmals für das Theater adaptiert, und greift auf spannende Weise wichtige Themen wie Demokratie, Gemeinschaft und die Bedeutung von Zusammenhalt auf. In einer dramatischen Entwicklung finden sich die Tiere der Billabong in einem Konflikt wieder, der ihre gesamte Lebensweise in Frage stellt. Wird Ben bereit sein, seine Krone abzulegen und Platz für junge Ideen und eine demokratische Regierungsform zu machen?

Ausgebucht „The Billabong King“ tells the thrilling and humorous story of an unusual crocodile. Ben, the mighty king of the billabong, has a problem: he's afraid of the dentist! When the condescending dentist Kaukasius abuses his position of power and hatches dark plans, a turbulent adventure begins. Ben is supported by a young and brave crocodile guardian bird, little Ben. These birds have an important task: they free the teeth of the crocodiles from annoying parasites and serve as loyal helpers and protectors.
Little Ben shows great courage and resourcefulness in this story. Together they fight against Kaukasius's schemes and must defend themselves against various threats. In doing so, they learn that power should not always rest in the hands of a single individual.

The play, which was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 2023, is being adapted for the theater for the first time by us and addresses important themes such as democracy, community, and the significance of solidarity in an exciting way. In a dramatic development, the animals of the Billabong find themselves in a conflict that calls their entire way of life into question. Will Ben be willing to lay down his crown and make room for young ideas and a democratic form of government?

A play full of surprises, betrayal, and courage that shows that true greatness sometimes lies in letting go. A relevant and important topic that concerns us all.
