As masters of Classical Crossover (Süddeutsche Zeitung), the Klazz Brothers are globally recognized as Dresden ambassadors who build bridges. With the founding of the ensemble in 1999, the idea of "Klazz" was born - a play on words that hides the intertwining of classical music and jazz. From this musical credo, the Klazz Brothers have created their very own style and are currently among the few world-class musicians in this field.
After countless Christmas meets Cuba concerts, the award-winning ensemble with multiple Classical Echoes, Jazz Awards, and Grammy nominations decided to celebrate this year's Christmas program, musically diverse, with longtime friends and companions. Alongside the Greek-Dutch exceptional singer Maria Markesini, the Vocal Concert Dresden choir, the saxophonist and flutist Volker "Holly" Schlott, and the longtime Cuban friends Alexis Herrera Estevez and Elio Rodriguez Luis from Cuba Percussion, German and international Christmas songs sound casually cool yet artful, virtuosic yet catchy, and heart-wrenching yet danceable.
With Klazz Brothers, arrangements are born from musical curiosity. The jazz-typical improvisation becomes the connecting element between worlds, as even great composers of the past, like Bach or Mozart, were well-versed in free play. What's fascinating is that behind the casually relaxed attitude of the jazzy interpretations, complex musical structures hide, from which the Klazz Brothers conjure their own innovative soundscapes! "Klazz" means music without boundaries, combining popularity with high artistic standards.
