"This combination is special." (Schwetzinger Zeitung)
The Ferrara Duo, founded in Mannheim in 2010, performs as one of the very few ensembles in the charming instrumentation with bassoon and guitar. The name Ferrara Duo refers to Canon Afranio zu Ferrara, who invented the Phagotum in the Italian city of Ferrara in 1539, which was mistakenly referred to as a predecessor instrument of the bassoon at the time.
The Ferrara Duo has captivated its audience at numerous concerts throughout Germany and abroad. They were invited to a live broadcast by SWR Television. In 2015, the duo released their first CD, followed by the second recording in 2020 entitled "The Woman with the Bassoon," featuring works from the Baroque to the 20th century. "The bassoonist Annina Holland-Moritz and guitarist Stefan Conradi leave far behind the impression of an 'unusual instrumentation'," writes Klassik Heute. "When the two let their instruments sound, this combination feels completely natural. A musical duo."
