Told Life
Reading & Conversation
Judith Kuckart is a dancer, choreographer, director, and writer. In her new novel, she tells her biography and illuminates an entire generation: „On June 17, the Day of German Unity, I was born. I remained the only child. On June 2, 1967, I sat in the children's ballet costume in front of the news. Benno Ohnesorg had been shot. I hit my father on the knee during the report: Daddy, when I grow up, I will shoot you too. In 1977, my grandmother, a conveyor belt worker in a factory for baby bathtubs made of plastic, gave me 1,000 DM for my high school graduation. In 1989, I stood on stage for the last time as a dancer at the Duisburg Opera. An important and shy publisher sat in the audience and said: You could also write a novel, Judith. On June 17, 2024, the title for my new novel will be set. And I know, from now on I have another twenty grand summers ahead of me – or?“
