The new Artistic Director of the Herkuleskeule, Philipp Schaller, has been one of the most frequently performed cabaret authors in the country for many years. Not only does the Keule, but also the Berliner Distel, Gisela Oechelhaeuser, Erik Lehmann, Michael Frowin, Ellen Schaller, and many other cabaret artists perform his bitingly satirical texts every evening. For the past seven years, Schaller himself has been on stage, steadily building a growing fan base.
He prefers to ask questions rather than annoy the audience with moralizing. He does not rant against those at the top, but directs his humor towards himself: ruthlessly and hilariously!
In his first Best-Of program, Philipp Schaller delivers his most important texts, timeless and very current, performed and read, from silly to profoundly dark, sly to macabre – not always funny, but consistently comical. Philipp Schaller does not play characters, he finds his material within himself and thus becomes a mirror of our absurd desires, vanities, cowardice, and double standards. He intentionally places himself between all chairs, as for him, it is the most productive place to still find compromises in a divided society. Irony is his means of transportation between the ideological trenches of the right and left, climate activists and climate deniers, gender-neutral language proponents and old white men. Only when it comes to the topic of peace or war, there is no room between the chairs - a theme that has accompanied Schaller's programs for many years.
The premiere of this program has been postponed multiple times due to the Corona pandemic and the associated closure of theaters. Therefore, Philipp Schaller has completely revised his program and is excited to finally be able to present it.
