Die QUIETSCHBOYS - Die Hessische Kultband
In the beautiful district of Sosseheim in Frankfurt, several musicians lived in the same house in the 1980s. A keyboard player, a drummer, a bassist, two guitarists, and a singer. We all played in different bands, but once a year, we held a small concert in the garden for invited guests.
In the third year, in 1988, 4 of us finally decided to form a band. That was Bernd and Käffi with guitar and vocals, Tom on bass, and Hansi on drums. Our founding conversation took place, of course, in our then regular bar "Sosseheimer Bierbrunnen". It was there that the band name "Die Quietschboys" was born. The name was inspired by the puppet band of the same name from the children's series "Hallo Spencer" (which you can watch on YouTube).
Our rehearsal room was located in the basement of the old building, a tough test for all the other residents. But also for us, because for every concert, all instruments, lighting and sound equipment, stands, cables, etc. had to be carried from down below to up top, and after the concert, around 3 a.m., it all had to be moved back down. But what wouldn’t you do to become famous.
Our first paid concert took place at the Klubkeller K in Eschborn. We played for the evening box office. This brought in a solid 73.50 DM from 5,- DM admission (some probably got in with discounts). However, we had also eaten beforehand for 84.80 DM. Well, at least we were four for 1.30 DM each.
Later that same year, Christoph, the landlord of Spritzehaus in Sachsenhausen, let us perform in his music pub. From that concert onwards, we steadily rose in popularity, and we are still thankful to Christoph for that and love to play there several times a year in front of a full house.
For our annually growing fan base, our first CD "Sonst nix" was released in 1996. A milestone in Sosseheimer music history. In 1997, due to personal reasons, there was a lineup change. Otto replaced Hansi on drums, and Jürgen took over from Tom on bass. In this lineup, our second CD "Schee versaut" was produced in 1998. A milestone for Frankfurt's music history. A further lineup change occurred in 2000. Ralf replaced Otto on drums, and Jürgen's position was filled by our founding bassist Tom who returned. That year, we also had the opportunity to perform at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park in Nuremberg, and Sound of Frankfurt in front of thousands of fans.
In 2001, our third CD "Ausser Rand und Band" was created. A milestone for Hessian music history. In 2005, the fourth CD "Sosseheim" was released, a milestone for German music history, and in 2008 the fifth CD "Muss ich habbe", a milestone for European music history. In 2013, Tom retired from music. Our longtime friend Emil came in to take over the bass. With him, our latest CD "Bier für ne Mark" was released in 2016. Undoubtedly a milestone for international music history. With the next CD, we hope to conquer the intergalactic music market as well. We'll see how it goes from here.
