The exhibition presents Ingeborg Bachmann as both a self-assured and vulnerable artist, an early media star and style icon, as well as a political writer.

Jenni Holtgrewe is a literary scholar and assisted in curating the exhibition in Munich.

Thomas Meinecke finds himself together with some of his novel's characters in Amorbach in the back Odenwald, where Theodor W. Adorno used to spend his summer holidays. Migration researcher and cultural scientist Judith Kohlenberger demonstrates in "Against the New Hardness" (dtv) how society has become increasingly numb since the beginning of Europe's largest "refugee crisis," normalizing the disenfranchisement of asylum seekers through a politics of deterrence and outsourcing. "I was born under a table...", so begins the life book of Dolores Prato (1892–1983). Born out of wedlock, Dolores grows up with relatives in the Marche region (Treja), feeling unloved and lonely. She works as a teacher and journalist, and only starts to write literary works later in life. When "Giù la piazza non c'è niente" was first published in 1980 in a shortened version (by Natalia Ginzburg), the book immediately became a literary sensation. Dolores Prato narrates – both clearly and enchantingly – domestic rituals, carnival balls among the nobility and the people, and magical practices. The story of her childhood in the late 19th century is a unique painting of a vanished Italy, the internationally celebrated rediscovery of the great unknown of Italian literature (published by Hanser [s] translated by Anna Leube [s] with a foreword by Esther Kinsky).

From Liberec to Jablonec and back: "Tramvestie" – the lyrical tram ride of the Czech poet Pavel Novotný (*1976) – is a multiperspective language artwork. Since 2007, Novotný has been working on this project, collecting, sorting, and composing material from his linguistic environment and his own (language) images. A kind of translation always occurs, not only when his texts are transferred into other languages. A radio phonetic masterpiece that he presents together with his German translator.

Erinnerungen eines Taugenichts - Ein Abend mit Anatol Regnier

He is a universal talent: the guitarist, singer, and writer Anatol Regnier, born in 1945, raised in St. Heinrich by Lake Starnberg and in Schwabing in the 1950s. The son of the theater people Pamela Wedekind and Charles Regnier, and the grandson of Frank Wedekind, he initially turned to music; he published his first novel late: at the age of 52 ("Back Then in Bolechów"). Since then, he has "persistently drilled through family history" in celebrated books. His "Erinnerungen eines Taugenichts" (btb) is both an autobiography and an artist's novel – and a captivating depiction of the post-war era.
