Ostermarkt Burgdorf March 29 and 30, 2025
Spring is just around the corner, nature is awakening to life, a festive occasion for the fourth Burgdorf Easter Market at StadtHaus. On March 29 and 30, more than 70 selected artisans and creatives will showcase over 1500 colorfully arranged decorative items and objects made from a variety of materials far from mass production in the large hall, the adjacent club rooms, and JohnnyB.
Delicate Art on Eggshells
With a steady hand and a great deal of patience, Traute Klinzmann transforms fragile eggshells into true works of art. The Wolfsburg artist decorates hollowed goose, duck, and hen eggs with intricate scratching motifs – a technique that requires precision and a delicate touch. First, the eggs are painted with vibrant batik colors. Klinzmann then uses a cutter knife to scratch artistic patterns into the color layer, creating impressive contrasts. “The fine details with circles and other elements are the final touch,” explains the artist. To finish, a layer of matte varnish protects the completed artwork and gives it an elegant appearance.
Unique Ceramic Art for Home and Garden
Those looking to give their home or garden a special atmosphere will find what they need with Sabine Nordmeyer. The ceramic artist creates artistic ceramic objects in her workshop in Peine that beautify living spaces and gardens. With over 4000 different shapes, which she designs according to her own ideas and suitable for every occasion, Nordmeyer offers an impressive range of handmade artworks. The final touch is added through one of more than 600 glazes that give the pieces their individual character. Whether stylish bowls, decorative indoor and outdoor objects, or artistically designed garden stakes – each work is unique and bears the artist's signature.
Rustic Wooden Decorations with Charm
For ten years, Roswitha Blum has been lovingly creating decorations from solid oak and Douglas fir wood. “It all started as a bit of fun,” Blum recounts. “A friend needed Christmas stars for her fruit sale – so I just tried it. Until then, I didn't even know I could do this.”
Today, her range includes a large selection of artistic woodwork – from modern designs to traditional motifs. She is particularly committed to preserving old forms: in addition to new creations, her offerings also include classic Easter bunnies and Easter eggs, which continue to be highly popular.
Creative Upcycling
What began with a small, folded paper box has developed into a true art form. Ten years ago, Peter Koch discovered his passion for creative upcycling and now exhibits his unique works at hobby and art fairs throughout northern Germany. His main materials? Things that would often end up in the trash: old maps, scraps of cardboard, or used coffee capsules that he transforms into artistic one-of-a-kind items. This results in individual boxes, imaginative "inch canvases," delicate paper chains, and original magnets, keychains, and pendant charms. With his handcrafted pieces, Koch impressively demonstrates that stylish and creative accessories can arise from used materials – sustainable, individual, and always with a special story.
During a tour of StadtHaus, visitors can watch many exhibitors at work at their stands and learn more about traditional crafts. From the creation of a self-sewn teddy bear to the “bobbing” of a lace doily, to the glazing of ceramic objects and individual beadwork.
The StadtHaus Café will be open during the event and will provide visitors with light snacks and drinks.
