Jonas Stark, winner of the Hong Kong International Piano Competition 2022, has performed throughout Germany, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, China, and Australia.
As a soloist in piano concerts, he has performed with the Heidelberger Philharmoniker, the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, the Duisburger Philharmoniker, the Norddeutsche Philharmonie, the Münchener Kammerorchester, and the Haydn Philharmonie under the direction of Marin Alsop, Marcus Bosch, Martin Fratz, Dietger Holm, and Kahchun Wong.
Previous competition successes include 1st prize at the Concours Musical de France in Paris 2009, 2nd prize at the International Rachmaninoff Competition in Frankfurt 2010, a promotion award at the International Piano Competition in Ettlingen 2012, 1st prize at the Young Pianists Competition in Trier 2014, a 1st federal prize at "Jugend musiziert" 2014, 1st prize at the International Piano Competition FLAME in Paris 2017, 1st prize at the Walter Gieseking Competition 2017, 3rd prize at the International Schubert Competition in Dortmund 2021, and a special prize at the International Music Competition of the ARD in Munich 2022.
Additionally, Jonas has received the special prize of Saarland for outstanding solo performances twice and is a Young Steinway Artist. Alongside his studies, Jonas attended master classes with Konrad Elser, Leslie Howard, Peter Frankl, Dmitri Bashkirov, Robert McDonald, John Perry, Christopher Elton, Pascal Devoyon, Dmitri Alexeev, Steven Osborne, Adrian Brendel, Imogen Cooper, Martin Helmchen, Arie Vardi, Janina Fialkowska, Anna Malikova, Bernd Goetzke, Grigory Gruzman, and Midori.
Jonas Stark, now 25 years old, began his musical education with Jelena Semenenko at the age of 5. After completing his Bachelor's degree in 2018 at HfM Saar under Professor Thomas Duis, he completed his Master's and Professional Diploma with Professor Ian Fountain at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Since 2021, Jonas has been studying in the solo class with Professor Roland Krüger at the Hochschule für Musik Hannover, where he has also been teaching piano since 2023. Jonas is a scholarship holder of the Jürgen-Ponto-Stiftung, the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the DAAD, the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the Hans-und-Ruth-Giessen-Stiftung, and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
