"Where people engage in their activities at night, moths flutter around, eagerly seeking light. Just like that, we flutter and float from nocturnal scenes to eerie moments of the night. From the dream image in Josephine Lang to darkness and rain in Dmitri Shostakovich and the Dance of the Moon by George Crumb. Join us as we journey through the night, inspired by shimmering music," invites the young Axylia Trio, named after a moth, on this concert evening, advising not to go to bed too early.
The three winners of the German Music Competition take the audience into the bedroom of a girl who, in Josephine Lang's "Traumbild" with words by Heinrich Heine, thinks of her beloved, encounter outcasts fighting against darkness and rain in "Beyond my Window" by Dmitri Shostakovich (Text: Alexander Blok), and experience the moon dancing in "Dance of the Moon" by George Crumb to a text by Garcia Lorca in the "Courtyard of the Dead". Musically, the night is definitely not just for sleeping!
The three instrumentalists of the Axylia Trio are scholarship holders of the German Music Council. Julika is also a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now" and combines her musical talent with social engagement. Cosima, with her enchanting cello playing, has won numerous international competitions and performs at many festivals. She plays a valuable instrument, built in 1821 in Paris. Jonas also performs internationally and is a scholarship holder of Menuhin's "Live Music Now"; as a répétiteur, he works at the University of Music and Theater in Hannover.

Program:
Wherever people roam at night, moths flutter around, greedy for the light that illuminates the events. And just as a moth flies from one nocturnal scene to the next, we pursue the most beautiful and eerie moments of the night. The flight leads to the sleeping chamber of a girl who is conjuring the “sweet image” of her beloved (“Traumbild” by Josephine Lang), all the way to the “Outcasts” who struggle “against darkness and rain” outside (Beyond my Window, Dmitri Shostakovich). But does the moth's flight also head towards the moonlight? No, for from there comes a “ghastly groaning” and it is said that the moon “dances in the courtyard of the dead” (“Dance of the Moon,” George Crumb). Fly with us through the night, inspired by the most captivating works of nocturnal music.
