Chris Kramer lädt ein - Wildes Holz
In the new concert series of the Cultural Office of the city of Schmallenberg, in the funding project "Third Place Schmallenberg," blues musician Chris Kramer invites other musicians from various genres 4-5 times a year to perform a concert with him on the cultural stage of Habbels, Bahnhofstraße 5, in 57392 Schmallenberg.
On November 10, 2024, we look forward to Wildes Holz.
They have been together for a quarter of a century, have played over 2,000 concerts, released 12 CDs, and sold over 50,000 copies: Wildes Holz is an exceptional phenomenon in the German music scene. They have achieved all this with a, well, unconventional instrumentation: guitar, double bass - and the common recorder. Yes, exactly, the little torture wood, the tinnitus simulator that we have all probably blown into at some point, not always to the delight of the audience. Who would have thought that you can actually make music with it? Tobias Reisige demonstrates impressively, hence why he is now called the "King of the Recorder" (WAZ). And Wildes Holz does not care about genre boundaries. Rock, pop, jazz, classical, electronic music. The more impossible an implementation on their wooden instruments seems, the more joyfully they prove the opposite! This creates a completely new genre: instrumental wood rock.
For the anniversary, Wildes Holz presents their new program "25 Years on the Wrong Track." From their beginnings as street musicians through their first CDs to their current hits, they revisit the highlights of their creative phases. They also share their experiences on and off stage, quirky encounters, funny anecdotes, and moving moments. With a lot of humor, charm, and joy of playing, they take the audience on their very special path through the world of music. It quickly becomes clear that this path is far from over because their enjoyment of bringing impossible things together will surely last for the next 25 years!
"Wildes Holz is a synonym for the best live music, captured good mood, and spirited joy of playing. The band is rhythmically sharp, plays powerfully off the cuff with enchanting drive," reports Der Windkanal. On September 8, 2023, the anniversary album "25 Years on the Wrong Track" was released, featuring 25 newly remastered tracks from 25 years of Wildes Holz. Prior to that, on August 11, the single "Walk On The Wild Side" was already released on all streaming platforms. It is an adaptation of the 1972 Lou Reed classic, which Wildes Holz recorded 15 years ago and has now been elaborately remastered. It captures the jazzy mood of the original and leads to a stunningly powerful improvisation, as only Wildes Holz can play it.
