... as once in the Nice of the North // Play revue including a welcome glass of champagne
Let the curtain rise! Finally, the time has come! After three years of construction, the Palasthotel in Wiesbaden is opening its doors. Only the crème de la crème is invited. The clever hotel director Otto Schick proudly welcomes his guests! Franz the hotel boy sweeps the last leaves off the new artificial turf and carries the suitcases into the foyer. We are in the year 1905, in Wiesbaden, the Nice of the North. Otto Schick (Wolfgang Vielsack) pops the corks and invites everyone to a cocktail (included in the admission fee).
Experience a journey through the history of the most modern hotel in Europe with flowing hot, cold, and thermal water in every room. And - long before Wi-Fi and flat rates - in 1905, every guest already had their own telephone connection.
Josh Platman from London breathes life into the turn of the eras with double bass and piano: classical music, hits from the 1920s, prohibited jazz variations from the 1940s, hits from the 1950s, Rock 'n' Roll, Neue Deutsche Welle, and Eurovision... there's something for everyone.
Viennese long-term hotel guest Hans-Christian von Schnack (Jürgen Knittl) and the head housekeeper Elisabeth Wollseif (Nathalie Trost) leaf through archive documents whose echoes still hold relevance today. Correspondences from a time when the hotel was a hospital, a daycare center, a beauty salon, and almost an intimate theater.
Peek through the keyholes! Listen to the music and literature. Stroll between photos and testimonials through an unusual cultural evening with drama, music, and hotel gossip.
The "Palast" opposite the Schwarzen Bock was the playground for the rich and famous, a hospital for soldiers, accommodation for the Amis, a daycare center, a beauty salon, social housing, an authority - until it was chosen as a theater by kuenstlerhaus43 a year ago.
Spotlights of history pay tribute to the lively past of the former luxurious hotel in Wiesbaden.
