Cameron Carpenter & Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn
CLASSICAL SUPERSTARS IN NUREMBERG
Hörtnagel Concerts Nuremberg - Master Concerts Season 2024/25
9th Master Concert: Cameron Carpenter & Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn
Had George Gershwin had the chance to meet the star organist Cameron Carpenter, who knows, maybe today we would be able to enjoy a piece called "An American in Berlin." Nevertheless, the Berlin-based artist has a lot to offer: interpretative freshness, a love for experimentation, and, of course, no fear of the unforeseen possibilities of artificial intelligence. The self-proclaimed eccentric has a pronounced fondness for the grand Karl Schuke organ at the Berlin Philharmonie. His specially tailored "International Touring Organ" is currently on pause.
During his Hörtnagel debut, Cameron Carpenter will be performing two works on the Steinmeyer organ that showcase different facets of his artistic signature:
Georg Friedrich Handel wrote his organ concertos as entertainment music, to bridge theater intermissions, and as dedicated virtuoso pieces. On the other hand, the innovative and somewhat chameleon-like organ concerto by Francis Poulenc shines with its ingenuity and a variety of sound effects.
Musical sparring partner for Cameron Carpenter is the Württembergisches Kammerorchester under the direction of their new Estonian chief conductor Risto Joost.
