The Elton Song Project - Eine Hommage an Elton John
The Elton Song Project
A tribute to Elton John
The world hits of Elton John - Daniel, Don´t let the Sun go down on me, Sorry seems to be the hardest Word, Crocodile Rock, Don´t go breaking my heart, Blue Eyes, I´m Still Standing, Sad Songs, Nikita, and Sacrifice, just to name a few, are well-known and everyone can sing along.
Sir Elton John, with more than 550 million records sold, is one of the most successful pop musicians in history. With the new version of Candle in the Wind in 1997, he not only paid tribute to the late Lady Diana - the song became the best-selling single of all time with 37 million copies sold.
In 1969, Elton John released his first album, Empty Sky. However, it was his second album, Elton John, with the hit Your Song, that became a success. After that, Elton John recorded albums almost like on an assembly line. In 1973, his seventh studio album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, was released - one of his most successful albums with over 30 million copies sold. The double album includes, among others, the original version of Candle in the Wind - originally a tribute to Norma Jean, alias Marilyn Monroe.
Throughout the 1970s, Elton John landed hit after hit worldwide, including titles like Daniel, Don´t let the Sun go down on me, Someone saved my Life tonight, and Sorry seems to be the hardest Word - timeless ballads. But also rock songs became hits for Elton John, such as Crocodile Rock, Philadelphia Freedom, or Don’t go breaking my heart in a duet with Kiki Dee.
Even in the 1980s, Elton John continued to enjoy success. Songs like Blue Eyes, I´m Still Standing, Sad Songs, Nikita, and Sacrifice stirred up the charts dominated by new wave and new romantic styles. He had long since become one of the most successful musicians of all time.
In 1992, after a serious illness, Elton John made a successful comeback with the album The One, which sold over 16 million copies. One of his biggest successes in the 1990s is the soundtrack for the Disney movie The Lion King (1994) with the hit single "Circle of Life." Elton John received an Oscar for the title song "Can you feel the Love tonight" from the soundtrack.
Elton John is one of the most successful artists of all time with countless timeless world hits in his unparalleled career as a musician, songwriter, and singer.
