The Neue Deutsche Härte pioneers OOMPH! are back with their 14th studio album "Richter und Henker"! With their previous album and Napalm Records debut "Ritual" (2019), they achieved the number 1 spot on the Official German Album Charts for the first time, after playing countless large national and international tours, as well as festival shows in their over 30-year success story. OOMPH!'s biggest hit to date, "Augen Auf!" (2004), is a timeless classic that resonates with every rock fan.

"Richter und Henker" marks the beginning of a new era with the first lineup change in the band's history that started in 1989: CR4P and FLUX are now joined on stage by the new singer DER SCHULZ. The new studio album was released on September 8, 2023, and was as usual self-produced and recorded by the band themselves.

"Richter und Henker" is a clear statement that OOMPH! is back stronger than ever in a new formation and will continue their path in a straight line - musically presenting themselves at the highest level and lyrically as opinionated, biting, and critical as always. Infused with a strong industrial dose, the album opener "Wem Die Stunde Schlägt" immediately sets the tone (Declared dead, yet we still stand - Damn it, we're still alive!). No wonder Götz Alsmann is making the night the focus of the evening on his new album and in his current program. Or is he making the evening the highlight of the day?

Vocal art is not only the name but also the program of the chamber choir founded in January 2023 under the artistic direction of Daniel Radde. With over 12 concerts per year, the young ensemble has firmly established itself in the music scene of Tübingen and captivates audiences from across the region with its perfectly tuned and transparent sound signature. In their concerts, the vocal artists present demanding a cappella literature from the 20th and 21st centuries, often in unconventional venues such as remote chapels or former boiler rooms. Thus, within the framework of the Jazz and Classical Days 2024, vocal art will explore the acoustic potentials of the "periphery" in the extraordinary ambiance of the Sudhaus. The fascinating floor-to-ceiling facet windows and the impressive ten-meter high ceiling create a unique sound space into which the contemporary compositions harmoniously blend. The program includes childlike fictions, biblical narratives, and mythological soundscapes by composers such as Pekka Kostiainen, Veljo Tormis, and Samo Vovk.

In 2022, the elder statesmen of the L’Entourloop collective, King James and Sir Johnny, proudly released their long-awaited third album "La clarté dans la confusion". The 20 tracks of this album were produced in their now legendary Bandulu Studio and are the result of a patient production process with care and passion. Throughout the album, L’Entourloop, in their own unique way, use a puzzle of film samples from this strange time we are experiencing, utilizing all their skills to get people dancing.

Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space - a self-explanatory name that doesn't leave much to add. At least in terms of everything that inevitably plays out in the mind's eye. Zombies, massacres, an apocalypse of sorts, that much is clear. However, the idea of a zombie-themed horror show does not even come close to doing justice to its four protagonists: Dead "Richy" Gein (drums, vocals), Mr. "Jim" Evilize (guitar), Dejan Decay (bass), and Reverend "Bloodbath" (guitar, keys) are not grotesquely made-up puppets, rather a sophisticated stage quartet that has a lot to offer both visually and sonically. Accordingly, a classically targeted genre classification is also difficult, as many are served. To put it simply, one simply speaks of Horrorbilly - not many musicians can claim to establish a new music genre. The conceptual stage show, the perfect musical interplay, and the fun involved are likely responsible for this otherworldly group providing over 20 years of entertainment for a growing fan base, sold-out shows, and ensuing success. This success was also recognized in 2015 with the award of an Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the "Hard & Heavy" category. Categorizations are once again not easy with the Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space. Although all their albums and EPs reflect the undertone of the morbid packaged in a shell of splatter humor, the musical diversity is undeniable. The balancing act between dancing to "Monster Mutant Boogie" and singing "Kopf deiner Mutter" in Viennese dialect is a daunting and daring one. The beauty of it: it worked and continues to do so! Not only domestically, but across the stages of the European continent. Whether in Finland or in Germany, the masses were quickly drawn into the zombie spell. Additionally, in 2011 they decided to establish their own label, Schlitzer-Pepi Records, on which "Mörder Blues 2 - Die Rückkehr Der Pompfüneberer" was released in 2015, marking their first entry into the Austrian album charts.

Simon Graupner, Leipzig's indie sensation, better known by his pseudonym "Shelter Boy," is quickly establishing himself as one of the standout German songwriters of his generation. Shelter Boy first gained attention as the support act for Boy Pablo and Gus Dapperton. Since then, he has taken the music scene by storm and rapidly built up a loyal fan base that shows no signs of slowing down. Shelly will release his second studio album "MERCYLAND" on April 26, 2024, through Scruff of the Neck Records, with which he will tour in October and November. He has successfully explored his musical expression possibilities with his solo project "Veljanov," which are far from exhausted.

"Gen Y Lens"

The last few years have been eventful for Malika Tirolien - after the release of her second solo album "HIGHER", tours, and collaborations with the Snarky Puppy collective, as well as her own headliner European tours across six countries with around 40 concerts, Malika Tirolien returns with a new musical adventure - Malika Tirolien's GeminiCrabs new album "Gen Y Lens", released on November 1, 2024. "GeminiCrab" is the name of the HighSoul music duo from Montreal, consisting of the Felix Award-winning keyboardist/producer Caulder Nash (Jonathan Roy) and Grammy-nominated singer/producer Malika Tirolien (Bokanté). GeminiCrab combines a variety of musical styles such as R&B, soul, and jazz-hip hop with honest lyrics in English and French, from the perspective of Generation Y, which the title "Gen Y Lens" of their brand new album refers to. In 7 catchy songs about love, coming of age, and the multifaceted realities of millennials, they playfully reflect various musical eras. Two singles accompany the release. The first single, A Love That Will Last, is an R&B ballad that takes us back to the luxurious chords and arrangements of the 90s and tells a story about taking responsibility for one’s role in a failed relationship and making room for the next partner. Like Water, the second single and the opener of the album, is a Hiatus Kaiyote-inspired bop that praises the power of water: majestic yet destructive, it reflects energies, both good and bad.

The duo met years ago through the Kalmunity Vibe Collective in Montreal. They also played together in Malika Tirolien's solo project and decided, after a Phi Center residency where they created songs with binaural audio technology, to form a band together. New Model Army released their 16th studio album "Unbroken" on January 26, which will be presented in 2024 along with a major tour through Europe, the UK, and South America.
The band began writing the album in 2021 against the backdrop of everything happening in a rapidly changing world and in their own lives. Early on, they decided that their first choice for the mix of the new album would be the legendary “Tchad Blake.”
Now, after completion: "Not much hits me these days as authentically. New Model Army hits it for me.”
Wonderfully recorded and produced by the band themselves, mixing this album felt like a gift. Full of guitars, cutting vocals, and with an emphasis on bass and drums that characterize all their work, Unbroken sounds very much like New Model Army, but still different.
Formed in 1980 in Bradford, the band New Model Army is storming through their fifth decade and showing no signs of slackening. Just recently, in September 2023, they released their fantastic live double album "Sinfonia" – a unique performance recorded with the Sinfonia Leipzig Orchestra at the Tempodrom in Berlin.

The Grammy®-nominated artist Alfredo Rodriguez reflects the talents of legendary jazz pianists Keith Jarrett, Thelonious Monk, and Art Tatum. The captivating art of Cuba-born Rodríguez, who was trained at the strict classical conservatories of Havana, is influenced by Bach and Stravinsky as well as his Cuban and jazz roots. Rodríguez was discovered by Quincy Jones at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2006 and has established himself as the epitome of jazz and boundless improvisation. His mastery of the art has earned him frequent performances on prestigious stages worldwide, including the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, the Montreux Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazz in Marciac, Umbria Jazz, and Jazz à Vienne. In The Invasion Parade, the follow-up album to his debut on Mack Avenue Records, Sounds of Space, Rodríguez explores his memories of Cuba, the people, and the culture he left behind, and finds his new place. There are scents and smells that one does not forget even after decades. Clarinetist David Orlowsky knows this too well: "Smells have an incredibly large influence on our lives. They determine whether we like someone, or whether we feel comfortable." For him, scents can trigger something else: music is created. David Orlowsky is one of the few people who have a very pronounced synesthetic perception. "I perceive sounds and scents in a related way - they often also have a visual component for me. There are melodies and sounds that I fall in love with every time I hear them, and sometimes I even feel almost in love when a particularly beautiful scent surprises me." For example, the smell of rain starting to fall on dry soil. He has always liked this smell and was quite pleased to discover that there is even a name for it: Petrichor. On his previous album "Alter Ego," where he created beautiful sound paintings and fantastic harmonies together with Viennese lutenist David Bergmüller, the listener's imagination immediately took flight. On "Petrichor," this phenomenon is even more pronounced, as the titles of the pieces already indicate the direction in which they are heading. There are titles such as "Lisboa," "Magnolia," "Sunscreen," or "Marrakesh." One could almost feel as if in a very exquisite musical perfumery. "When I think of 'Lisboa,' I remember a specific place in Lisbon where I often sat. There was a bakery and a fish restaurant, and depending on the wind direction, the aroma changed," recalls David Orlowsky. "With 'Gasoline,' it's about that typical gas station smell. For me, it promises freedom with a hint of danger. You are venturing forth. I love that state," he admits, presenting a restless, lurking, and very intense melody in the piece. "In 'Circus,' I think of visits to the circus with my father in my childhood. Back then, there were elephants and tigers, along with the smell of the ring and the cotton candy - all of that captivated me, and I dreamed of traveling with a circus." When listening to the music, one almost feels as if standing in the dusty ring oneself. With each title, David Orlowsky takes us on a journey. Like in a movie, he zooms in on details, illuminates small but important situations, and transports us to fantastic fantasy worlds. What is astonishing is how masterfully he transforms his feelings and memories into music. One of the most mysterious songs on this album is the piece "Marrakesh." David Orlowsky recalls, "I was only briefly in Marrakesh, passing through on my way to go surfing. It was my first time in Morocco. Our taxi broke down, and we stood by the road in the middle of the night. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed. I could physically feel that I had never been to this place before. It was somehow exciting." The music evokes precisely that feeling. The album's sound world is often calm, some might even call it melancholic, while others will surely find something comforting when listening. All of this is exactly the composers' intention, as it describes the emotions that are also triggered by special and positive scents. Even memories of his childhood in a village in southern Germany have been processed on "Petrichor." In a completely new version of "Hejo - Spann den Wagen an," he tells of approaching rain and the scent of freshly mown fields. In every piece, but especially in this one, it becomes clear what a magnificent clarinetist David Orlowsky is. He plays with complex techniques, incorporates key noises into the music, and elicits from his instrument very gentle, at times harsh, rhythmic, and percussive tones. After more than 20 years in his klezmer-specialized trio, he first broke free with the album "Alter Ego" and completely broke free with "Petrichor." In doing so, he made new friends. Guitarist Daniel Stelter and drummer Tommy Baldu are just as versatile on their instruments as David Orlowsky. Lillo Scrimali, who plays with different keyboard instruments on four tracks, is also no stranger in the music world. "We met behind the stage at a jazz festival and immediately struck up a conversation," David Orlowsky recounts. Julian Lage is one of the most outstanding jazz guitarists of his generation. As the New Yorker writes, he belongs to the "highest category of improvising musicians" and has a perfect child prodigy biography. That aside, Julian Lage is so great because he manages to explore and work musically on the countless currents of American music history from jazz, pop, country, bluegrass, acoustic folk, and rock without giving frontal lessons. All this is based on excellent technique, free association, and improvisation. He sounds so authentic and unadulterated, as if he were playing a spontaneous concert just around the corner.

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, he began performing publicly at the age of six and played with Carlos Santana two years later. A documentary film was even made about him called "Jules at Eight". He conducted his first jazz workshop at the age of 15 at Stanford University. The musician, who now lives in New York, can look back on a long career marked by collaborations with Gary Burton and John Zorn, as well as duo projects with Nels Cline, Chris Eldridge, and Fred Hersch.

Christmas is approaching and with it the Advent season, where snowflakes dance on the streets, the city shines in festive splendor, and the scent of punch and gingerbread fills the air. It is the time for special songs. In their "Viennese Christmas", Cobario presents traditional as well as modern Christmas songs, reinterpreted with great joy and virtuosity on two guitars and a violin. It sounds relaxed and reflective, but also lively and spirited at times when the trio mixes their own compositions into the program.

The CD "Wiener Weihnacht" includes 12 classic Christmas songs that Cobario interprets in their own instrumental style with a fresh perspective. The listener will be taken on a journey with many musical surprises: "O Tannenbaum" is reminiscent of a Viennese Heurigen atmosphere, while "Leise rieselt der Schnee" transforms into a 1950s Jazz Waltz. If there was something like the decathlon of cabaret, Helge Thun would probably be an Olympic champion, if not even a district champion. As a magician, he has won more awards than he can count, as a poet, he became the German Team Champion in Poetry Slam, and in Theatersport, he learned the art of improvisation early on. With shows like Reim gewinnt, der Comedy Stube, and Tauschrausch, he created three successful formats. For 20 years, he was the head of one of the most original comedy duos with Helge and das Udo. TV formats, radio columns, books, and various other stage programs like Der Schöne und das Biest with Heiner Kondschak or Funny Magic with Topas are not even included in that list.

The London Classic Rock band will once again tour the German-speaking area at the beginning of 2025. After the "Live Dates" Tour in 2024, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the album of the same name, "The Ash" are dedicating the 2025 tour to the motto "The Wish List Tour."

Behind the tour motto is the idea that WISHBONE ASH fans themselves can contribute to the setlist. Some rarely heard songs, requested by fans through a social media survey conducted by the band, will be played during the concert evenings. WISHBONE ASH will bring a mix of their classics, rare song treasures, and newer songs from the recent past to the stage.

Formed in 1969 in London during the bubbling birth hours of the Progressive Rock scene, WISHBONE ASH took advantage of the fertile musical environment, creating a distinctive brand of melodic rock sound and becoming one of the most influential guitar bands in rock history. Energy and melody have made "The ASH" an act that is hard to surpass, currently being discovered by a new generation of loyal rock fans. Over the years, the band has experimented with various musical genres, from folk, blues, and jazz to pedal-to-the-metal rock and electronica. Regardless of the style, WISHBONE ASH's unmistakable hallmark is the interplay of two lead guitars, influencing bands like Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Maiden, and Opeth. Fascinating, ethereal, and majestic, Mammal Hands (saxophonist Jordan Smart, pianist Nick Smart, and drummer Rob Turner) has created a refreshingly original sound from a rich source of inspirations: drawing from spiritual jazz, as well as North Indian, folk, and classical music, they craft something unmistakable, something of their own.

Hailing from Norwich, one of the most isolated and easternmost cities in the UK, they have found their own path away from the musical mainstream, developing their unique sound during long improvised rehearsals.

All three members equally contribute to the writing process: a process that prefers to foster group dynamics over the lone wolf. Their records are charming and beautiful stories, while their hypnotic live shows have made them one of the most exciting bands in Europe thanks to their unique lineup. Their third album Shadow Work – which is also their first self-produced album – was released in 2017, followed by Captured Spirits in 2020.

Their fifth studio album Gift from the Trees was released in March 2023. GFTT offers a new perspective on the trio's unique music. The band had the opportunity to work late into the night to create a deeper and more organic experience. This approach benefits both their writing process and their trance-like live performances. While part of the music was pre-composed and even performed live, improvisations also played an important role in the recording this time.

When Heinrich Del Core tells his everyday stories in his red shoes, one wants to exclaim: "Stop it! That can't possibly have happened, he must have just made it up!" But all these events, which we can laugh at so incredulously and heartily, he has experienced himself. Heinrich Del Core is a magnet that attracts quirky everyday situations, which he then presents to us with his uniquely witty charm.

And now the time has come: Heinrich is going to be a grandpa. Or to put it differently: his wife is going to be a grandma!

The new situation turns everything upside down. Overnight, Del Core's world is different. He buys a stroller that costs as much as a moped used to and today a Thermomix. He downloads baby apps for his wife and bakes cake for family coffee catch-ups. Then there's also a wedding, environmentally conscious and vegan. But true joy is hard to come by when one is supposed to throw unpeeled whole grain rice at the couple.

But with grandparents, many problems disappear into thin air. Take the bedroom, for example: how often has restful sleep been disrupted by his wife's cold feet, the never-ending battle over the duvet, or because the man competes with a leaf blower in volume and air pressure? When the grandchild comes to visit on the weekend, Heinrich simply has to move out.

Of course, this affects his self-esteem. And doesn’t "grandpa" sound totally old as well? Actually, he feels younger - except in the morning when getting up. Sometimes the joints make noises. But his wife keeps boosting his confidence: "Heinrich, you are really fit." In fact, she seems to cope with the new situation much better. She says: "Being a grandma is like being a mom - only nicer." She has never thought about getting older. Once, she left a note for the kids: "We are at the cemetery," and Heinrich wrote underneath: "But we will come back."

Yet despite all the changes in his life, this program is a typical Heinrich Del Core evening, because he himself says: "My wife is becoming a grandma, but I'm staying the same."

When the two founding members of Grobschnitt, "Lupo" (lead guitar) and "Willi Wildschwein" (singer and guitarist), along with Willi's son "Nuki" (guitar, vocals, percussion), announced via video message on April 1st, 2019, that they were finally returning to German stages, it was a long-awaited dream come true for the still large fan base of the legendary band from Hagen.

The desire to do something that had never been done in the band's long history was the driving force behind the "Grobschnitt Acoustic Party" project for the three musicians. The Grobschnitt song classics are performed live with completely new, acoustic arrangements and without much fanfare. For almost two years, the musicians prepared the acoustic project in secret, without even Grobschnitt insiders knowing about it.

The "Grobschnitt Acoustic Party" is a 3-hour emotional journey through the band's 53-year music history, featuring many well-known song classics from albums released between 1972 and 1989. It is presented and celebrated in a close-knit, familial atmosphere. This includes compositions that the band has never or rarely performed live. The program also features the two long tracks "Solar Music" and "Rockpommel's Land" in 30-minute acoustic versions, which are well-known staples of any Grobschnitt performance. The focus of the Grobschnitt Acoustic Party event is solely on the music!

"Listening to these super old 'tunes' in a new guise is simply beautiful, an unforgettable experience," say Grobschnitt fans after the first concerts. Standing ovations followed the cult opener "Vater Schmidt's Wandertag". It was not only the song classics that captivated the enthusiastic audience, but also the typical Grobschnitt humor, which was repeatedly shared between the pieces in the form of anecdotes by the musicians. The three musicians themselves were more than impressed by the suspenseful atmosphere and, after the concert, mingled with their numerous fans for autographs and selfies.

To the delight of Grobschnitt enthusiasts, a purely acoustic studio album featuring song classics of the band was released in May 2022, debuting at number 25 on the German Album Charts. Titled simply "GROBSCHNITT ACOUSTIC ALBUM", the work contains 14 tracks and is a tribute to the band's 50th anniversary. It is also a homage to the loyal fan base, now spanning three generations, whose motto "No Day Without Grobschnitt" has always been and remains a cult favorite.
