UNRU - SUN WORSHIP / ABKEHR
UNRU: Stylistically unbounded Black Metal, drawing inspiration where it serves their own songwriting. The current album of the formation, "Die Wiederkehr des Verdrängten", thrives on the successful amalgamation of various musical elements: Crust Punk, Shoegaze, Funeral Doom, Ambient, Noise Rock, and, of course, Black Metal. The experimental openness never goes too far, and never loses itself in arbitrariness. The songs know where they want to go, and that's how they are brought to life live. The music knocks you off your feet: "... almost everyone in the room gets blown away. Incredibly intense." (Concert review in Deaf Forever about Unru's performance at Hell Over Hammaburg 2024)
Sun Worship: Started as a trio in 2010, and operating as a duo since 2018, Sun Worship confidently stands for themselves, have occasionally performed barefoot, and still kicked your ass. Renowned underground festivals, such as the Icelandic festival Nordanpaunk, have been part of their career early on, as well as the well-known Roadburn Festival. The band has been developing their idiosyncratic style beyond predetermined genre boundaries ever since, and above all knows one thing: how to philosophize with a hammer.
Abkehr: Essentially a duo, Abkehr has released three albums since 2017, whose succinct titles "In Asche", "In Feuer", and "In Blut" succinctly indicate the musical direction: to the core, on the bone, no frills. Raw and merciless, uncompromising and straightforward. Since 2023, the band has expanded to a quartet in order to play concerts.
In total, three bands, no blinders, and no compromises. Did someone say "AZ Black Metal" here? Go eat your hoodie, those times are over!
