Craobh Rua & Matching Ties - Irish Folk Night
Exciting Irish songs, heartfelt ballads, fiery tunes: In this year's Irish Folk Night, two excellent bands will take the stage, evoking the longing for the Emerald Isle.
Headlining the event is one of the world's best Irish folk groups from Belfast: Craobh Rua. The "ambassadors of traditional Irish music" have been touring the globe for many years. Through joint concerts with great artists such as De Dannan, Ralph Mc Tell, Alan Stivell, and of course, their own tours, the charming Irish musicians have continually captivated their audience! They have an extensive list of festival appearances, including the Edinburgh International Folk Festival, Ballyshannon Folk and Traditional Music Festival, Irish Fest (Milwaukee/USA), Tønder Festival (Denmark), and numerous radio and television productions with WDR and the BBC. Craobh Rua vividly demonstrates how fresh and vibrant Irish music can sound. Heartfelt ballads provide a harmonious balance to the virtuosic tunes, creating a pleasant atmosphere of tension and joy. Craobh Rua is setting new standards in the Irish music scene - stirring up the yearning for the Emerald Isle. After numerous lineup changes, Craobh Rua returns this year with two original members:
- Eoghan McKenna (Fiddle)
- Desy McCabe (Uilleann Pipes, Tin Whistle)
- Brian Connolly (Banjo, Mandolin)
- Declan Keenan (Guitar, Vocals)
The Matching Ties have been around since 1986. The four leading folk musicians on the European scene with their matching ties play a diverse and unique blend of Irish, English, and Scottish folk on traditional string instruments, violin, bagpipes, flutes, harmonicas, and bodhrán (Irish drum). They are not only skilled stylists on a variety of acoustic instruments but also gifted singers and entertainers. Irish music at its highest level!
