Der Schafhof selbst hat eine lange Tradition. Bereits zur Zeit des Mittelalters war dieser Ort im Taunus ein Hof, der später besonders für die Schafhaltung wichtig wurde. Daher leitet sich der bis heute erhaltene Name ab. Ab dem 19. Jahrhundert wurde die Schäferei eingestellt und der Hof wechselte mehrfach den Besitzer. Liselott Linsenhoff baute ihn 1971 schließlich zu einem Zentrum für Dressursport um. Ein Jahr später gewann sie bei den Olympischen Spielen in München als erste Frau eine Einzel-Goldmedaille im Dressurreiten. Seit 2000 wurde der Hof von ihrer Tochter Ann Kathrin und deren Ehemann geleitet. Der Schafhof war bereits Austragungsort für namhafte Veranstaltungen wie die Europameisterschaften oder das jährliche Dressurturnier, was zur Sichtung neuer Talente dient.
