Danceperados of Ireland - Hooked Tour - History of Irish Fishing

An Authentic Show of Irish Music, Song and Dance

The name Danceperados of Ireland already symbolizes the enthusiasm of the ensemble for Irish step dancing. Freely translated, it means "The Dance-Crazed." Yes, the Irish can't help dancing, singing and playing. It's in their blood. Fishing is also part of the Irish DNA.

With "Hooked", the Danceperados have created a new captivating show that combines the fascination of fishing and dancing with music and song. "Hooked" is a tribute to the customs and traditions of maritime communities, where things are wonderfully different from the big cities. The songs and stories about the sea take us back to a time when people were still self-sufficient and led a simple, but self-determined life. However, a dangerous one! The sea has not only given, but often taken. All of this will be seen and heard. A multi-vision with historical and current images and videos combines with music and step dancing to create a work of art for the eyes and ears.

"Hooked" is not only an ode to the sea and rivers of the Emerald Isle or the wild and untamed nature. Faced with the pace and aggressiveness of current exploitation, one must wonder if the natural environment will be preserved for future generations. The Danceperados of Ireland bring the unequal fight of David against Goliath to the forefront.
In contrast to other shows that only portray a romanticized, beautiful idyllic world, the ensemble manages to be extremely entertaining while also not just presenting shallow content.

Another major difference from other step dancing shows is that the Danceperados perform live! Many competitors feed the audience with half-playback or even full-playback.

The Danceperados of Ireland have a different quality standard and therefore, in 2014, they led a movement to free Irish step dancing from the clutches of big producers and bring it "back to the roots." Media and fans are electrified by the power and competence of this new and honest concept. With standing ovations, they celebrate an ensemble that has succeeded in combining show and culture in the best way.
Those who have seen "Hooked" will not only go home well entertained, but will also have learned a lot about Ireland past and present and may also have been encouraged to fight for what they love.

Dlina Volny

The name of the currently based in Vilnius and originally from Minsk Synthwave trio Dlina Volny – translated into German it means "Wavelength" – can certainly be seen as a homage to their fascination with sine waves as the physical basis of any good sound. Their second album "Dazed" is a self-proclaimed "Love Thriller." Mixed by producer Dean Hurley, a regular collaborator of David Lynch, the record possesses extraordinary beauty. Elegant synthesizers are flanked by the driving basses of the rhythm section. The instrumentation creates a stage for the alto vocals, which float over the album like a warm mist on a cool night. Hurley is also the sound engineer who brought us Jorja Chalmers' "Midnight Train" as well as remixes for the Italian flagship artists Desire and Chromatics earlier this year.

Aesthetically, "Dazed" encompasses the estrada pop of the 1980s and the brutalist architecture of the 1970s that permeates the sky of Minsk. "When it’s sunny here, it looks like a Soviet fairy tale come true. On a dark day, it reminds one of a dystopia." The lyrics walk the narrow ridge between pain and euphoria, grappling with the polarities of fear versus passion and hope versus deep despair. "Dazed" was released at the end of 2021 on Italians Do It Better, and even before the pandemic, they played several successful shows together, including with their compatriots from Molchat Doma. In 2022, they could be experienced live at various festivals across Europe, such as the Grauzone Festival in The Hague, Devilstone in Lithuania, or the Pop Kultur Festival in Berlin. Now they are coming back for a short tour in July and August 2023, during which they will also stop in Dresden.

Ductape + William Bleak

Ductape:
Ductape was born in 2019 from the bustling underground music scene of Istanbul, carrying the torch of the pioneering post-punk revolution. But they are not just a repetition of their predecessors; they push the genre forward into unexplored territories.

In a world where genres are increasingly blending, Ductape stands out, creating an uncompromising sound that challenges, captivates, and resonates. Ductape is the sound of the past, present, and what is to come. With deep, contemplative basslines merging with defiant guitar riffs and pathos. Through their lyrics, Ductape's sound embodies the essence of post-punk – the raw energy, rebellious spirit, and relentless desire to experiment. Their music captivates the listener's attention from the first to the last note.

The members of Ductape – Çağla and Furkan – united by their shared passion for sonic exploration, form a closely connected unit that thrives on creative synergies. From commanding vocals conveying raw emotions, to intricate guitar work weaving complex soundscapes, pulsating basslines anchoring their sound with attack, and relentless drums driving the rhythm, each element intertwines to create its own distinctive sonic tapestry.

William Bleak:
William Bleak is a post-punk/cold wave band from Berlin that combines hard electronic beats with manic guitars and guttural basslines into a grotesque yet celebratory sound.

Founded as a dreamy post-punk band, the project rapidly evolved thanks to Berlin's grey winters. Melancholy was exchanged for despair, silent pain turned into anger, and a longing for movement. In the first few months of 2024 alone, the band released four successful singles, four self-produced music videos, and completed a tour of the American West Coast successfully.

William Bleak's sound is the perfect fusion of dance-punk sensibilities and cold wave despair, a poignant synthesis that will once again visit Europe.

Drunk at Your Wedding & Kitty Solaris - Doppel-Headliner-Konzert

DRUNK AT YOUR WEDDING, named after an old Bill Callahan song, is the project of Berlin singer/songwriter Nina Töllner.
She likes scratchy indie rock and traditional folk and has a pronounced sense for dark narratives and dry humor. Thus, the songs of DaYW repeatedly take surprising turns, oscillating between fragile and loud, and embedding catchy melodies in a shadow play of minor keys.
The second DAYW album "I Have to Go Home" (Bohemian Strawberry, 2021) received kind words from, among others, Spiegel Online, Rolling Stone, VISIONS, and Kaput Magazine. The successor "Ghost Gear" (2023/24) pays little attention to classic song structures, often steps on the distortion pedal, and fishes in human shallows or the poetic peculiarities of the English language.

Kitty Solaris

Peace, freedom, synthesizer: Dark wave pop between 80s sound and 60s attitude. Kitty Solaris, the "secret indie queen of Berlin," released her ninth album "James Bond" (Solaris Empire) in July, which has been showered with praise, including from Rolling Stone, Kulturnews, Musikexpress, Westzeit, Laut.de, Bedroomdisco. The river Lippe has significantly influenced the history of the city of Dorsten. Guest guide Heinz Winter takes visitors on a stroll through this history. The tour starts at the Dorstener Aak, leads along the Lippe dam with insights into the first settlement period in the area of Dorsten, through the modern waterways to the city center.

William Shakespeare: »Othello«/»Die Fremden«

»Othello«,

Shakespeare's masterpiece about destructive rage, and »Die Fremden«, a shockingly relevant text and the only surviving literary manuscript of the playwright, become an immersive station drama in the former glass factory Telux in Weißwasser. Fury and desire, both powerful driving forces in interpersonal relations and not only familiar historical forces in Lusatia, set in motion a fateful game where there are only losers in the end. The performance directed by Marcel Kohler takes place in several locations within the former glass factory. The audience experiences the story from various perspectives. The views of the acting women play a crucial role in this.

Only gradually does a complete picture of the drama unfold, until finally all spectators come together again and are confronted with their own desires and vulnerabilities.
