Simply The Best
40 YEARS AFTER THE COMEBACK TOUR "PRIVATE DANCER":
THE CELEBRATED HOMAGE TO ROCK LEGEND TINA TURNER WITH LEAD ACTRESS COCO FLETCHER IS GOING ON A MAJOR TOUR AGAIN!
The "Private Dancer Tour" in 1985 was Tina Turner's first solo tour after divorcing her drug-addicted and abusive husband Ike Turner. The tour for her 5th studio album with 180 shows worldwide is considered the starting point for her meteoric rise, which went down in history as the greatest comeback in music history. 40 years after the beginning of her unparalleled solo career, "Simply The Best - The Tina Turner Story" honors the unique body of work of one of the most significant artists of the last decades. Recently, the successful production caused quite a stir due to a long legal dispute over the portrayal of the lead actress and the world's best Tina doppelganger, Dorothea "Coco" Fletcher, and gained international fame and recognition through the final court ruling. The show has already thrilled hundreds of thousands of visitors and will go on a major tour again in 2025 through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
A highlight among musical biographies and a must-see for all Tina Turner fans, who want to experience the eventful life of the exceptional artist with all her greatest hits up close and live once again: "Simply The Best - The Tina Turner Story" vividly depicts the life of the exceptional artist with live music and impressive scenes, taking the audience on a journey through five decades of music history: from early successes, the failure of a great love, and finally, after the separation, Tina's sensational solo career up to the film music of "James Bond 007 - Goldeneye" in the mid-90s.
From the "Private Dancer Tour" from difficult circumstances to a steep solo career
Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, in Brownsville, Tennessee (USA), raised in Nutbush, and deceased on May 24, 2023, in her chosen home of Küsnacht near Zurich (Switzerland), she became the world-famous and legendary Tina Turner. From 1958, she performed alongside her future husband Ike Turner. After the night of separation and personal rock bottom, her first solo tour for the album "Private Dancer" in 1985 marked an outstanding comeback as a solo artist. Her legendary performance in Rio de Janeiro in 1988 in front of more than 180,000 spectators even earned her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2009, the singer with the unmistakable timbre went on a world tour for the last time. This tour was a magnificent conclusion to an extraordinary career with over 180 million records sold, countless number 1 hits, and chart-topping songs like "Simply The Best," "Private Dancer," or "We Don't Need Another Hero." Even after her death, Tina Turner remains an unbeatable role model for strength and courage.
The successful production "Simply The Best" is a tribute to the rock icon who shaped half a century of rock history and brings the unique Tina Turner sound live on stage once again. The gripping and emotional musical biography was awarded "Best Musical Tribute Show" at the Reel Awards in early 2020 in Las Vegas and pays homage to an outstanding and unique personality.
The world's best Tina impersonator: Dorothea "Coco" Fletcher as Tina Turner
"Tina Turner's performances were significantly different from those of other artists. I have always been fascinated by her incredible energy and stage presence," says Tina Turner actress Coco Fletcher. Inspired by the exceptional artist, she manages to imitate her idol perfectly. Coco's performance is visually and vocally astonishingly close to the original, making her rightly considered the best Tina impersonator worldwide. There can hardly be a greater compliment than when the rock icon herself believed, during a past legal dispute, that she looked too similar to her. With the special timbre in her voice and the energetic show, Coco Fletcher brings the "Queen of Rock" back to the stage and thrills the audience alongside the excellent ensemble of live band, singers, and dancers.
The Alabama-born Fletcher celebrated her first successes in Las Vegas: she performed with soul greats like The Platters and Bobby Womack and sang successfully in shows like "American Superstars." Since September 1997, she has been part of the first cast of the ensemble of "Stars in Concert." She regularly performed with Udo Jürgens starting in 2004, and in 2005, she sang a duet with Jermaine Jackson (Jackson Five) during a joint appearance. Coco Fletcher became known in Germany and Switzerland after Pepe Lienhard enlisted her for his live tours and TV appearances. She also gave goosebumps on "Let's Dance" 1 & 2 (RTL) and sang at the "42nd Montreux Jazz Festival" in 2008 for Quincy Jones.
