Multimedia Vortrag von Thomas W. Mücke - Mütterchen Russland – Wolgamul
The trained opera and chanson singer Thomas W. Mücke and his wife Nina have been a nationwide institution for over 30 years with their medium format multimedia shows, staged in brilliant 6 x 6 picture quality and a unique synthesis of words, singing, and music.
Russia, a huge country – 50 times larger than Germany. Over 3 million rivers flow through the Federation, but the most beloved is the Volga – affectionately called "Mother Russia". And this mother is a giant of over 3,500 km – the largest river in Europe. Books and mass media often give a tendentious or shadowy image. The great chance of a journey lies in closely examining what happens on-site – lasting 6 weeks and covering about 13,000 km on the odometer. The power and images of this expedition will have a lasting impact.
Whether it's the Golden Ring with its countless gilded domes that speak of the power of the Russian church, the vast lakes and forests, or the fascinating cities such as Nizhny Novgorod, where world prices for furs and other luxury items were once determined, or Kazan, the city of Genghis Khan's ancestors and the increasing number of mosques.
In Samara, few witnesses still speak of the time when millions of Volga Germans had good and bad times – ultimately Volgograd, known to everyone as the fateful city of Stalingrad.
The concluding chord will be set by the Volga Delta, where millions of lotus flowers make saying goodbye difficult. But before that, there will be a motorcycle ride through the Kalmyk desert to photograph wild horses and camels.
And always Russian music that enchants and songs performed by me (as a trained opera singer), which will enrich the performance as a small touch of color.
So: Off to the East, where the sun rises.
