All About Joel - A Tribute to Billy Joel
When Billy Joel released his last album, RIVER OF DREAMS, in 1993, a murmur went through the music world. Why would an artist at the peak of his career stop, with an album that produced three extremely successful and fan-celebrated singles, "River of Dreams," "All About Soul," and "Lullabye"?
The answer is simple: Because he can! Throughout his long career, Billy Joel never cared about the mechanisms of the music industry. He simply always wrote the best songs, which at the beginning of his career only a fraction of humanity literally bought, but which eventually lifted him to great heights globally with the album THE STRANGER.
Today, Billy Joel looks back on 150 million records sold, numerous awards, and almost as many marriages. Already as a primary school student, he felt the impact a man has on women who can play the piano and sing simultaneously. ALL ABOUT JOEL decided at the end of 2021 to exclusively cover songs by the little man from the Bronx, or better yet: to pay tribute to one of the greatest storytellers in music history! With relatively simple means - keyboard and vocals - the two consummate musicians Marius Ader and Thomas Matiszik started out playing in bars, pubs, and live clubs. Meanwhile, ALL ABOUT JOEL has grown into a proper band.
Six fantastic instrumentalists now stand on stage, virtuosically bringing a cross-section of Billy Joel's oeuvre to life. From early classics like "She’s Got A Way" to the outstanding "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant," and to the aforementioned "All About Soul," nearly everything that makes a Billy Joel fan's heart beat faster is included. And, of course, "Piano Man" is also not missing from ALL ABOUT JOEL's program.
Furthermore, singer Thomas Matiszik provides entertaining background information from the quite eventful life of the little man with quick hands and a big voice. Let yourself be enchanted, lean back, or dance and clap when ALL ABOUT JOEL take the stage and bring you closer to one of the greatest musicians of all time.
