WIND OF CHANGE - Berlin-Premiere
Every second, a woman is put on a roller coaster worldwide - blindfolded, without warning or consent. The ride lasts between one and fifteen years. WIND OF CHANGE is a solo about menopause, feminist aging, the transformation of female bodies, and the whole rest. It is funny and wicked, virtuosic, serious, and relevant.
Susanne Abelein and Sabrina Zwach have found a language to tell funny stories about the "most unfunny topic in the world," but also to touch, inform, break taboos, and allow shame. WIND OF CHANGE is not an evening of enlightenment and not a theater of empathy - it is a theater evening not only for the women it affects but for all who are concerned: employers, doctors, researchers, insurers, partners, family, friends, and children.
It is about experiences that are still spoken about far too rarely. About bodies that change. About the contradiction between these experiences, the societal imperative of functioning, and a blatant lack of research. Above all, it is about self-empowerment: the reclamation of female bodies - and the authority to interpret them. Because: "We have clenched our teeth for far too long and marched through the changes, stuffed with pills and tampons, until we bled out."

SUSANNE ABELEIN works as a performer and actress in Zurich, Hanover, and Berlin. Collaborative theater project work from conception to performance forms the focus. Invitations, among others, to the Impulse Festival, Biennale Venice - a member of the ensemble of the Lucerne Theater under Barbara Mundel. 2003–06 ensemble member at Theater Basel under Lars Ole Walburg. Works among others with René Pollesch, Sebastian Nübling, CapriConnection, and directing at the transcultural Basel theater project fremd?! and in countless independent productions, including with Marcel Schwald, Patrick Frank, Anne Andresen, Georg Scharegg, Ulrike Willberg, Tim Zulauf/KMU Productions, Kiel/Meppelink. 2017–20 t.Zürch chair, co-initiator of FairSpec.
SABRINA ZWACH worked as a dramaturge and director in the free scene. She curated the 5th Festival Politics in Free Theater 2005 in Berlin on behalf of the federal government. From 2008–2011 she worked under Frank Castorf in the artistic management at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and on projects with Herbert Fritsch. At the Berliner Ensemble, she worked as a dramaturge, was then part of the artistic management of the Burgtheater, and is now active again as a freelance author and dramaturge. She writes for theater and television. From the 2027/28 season, she will be part of the management at Schauspielhaus Bochum. She lives in Berlin.
