Since 2018, "Club 74 Reloaded" catapults you back to a time when lovers of good rock music in the region could enjoy it multiple times a week. We regularly resurrect the legendary discotheque for you – with an event series that has long since written its own history. Whether you were there back then or not – for fans of good rock and alternative music, we bring just the right thing to the dance floor and take you on a journey through music history: from the beat of the 60s through hard and progressive rock of the 70s, new wave of the 80s, and alternative of the 90s to the rock and indie sounds of our days.

The focus is on the many Club 74 classics, long-missed treasures, harder stuff, and selected newer songs that are musically in the tradition of Club 74 – yet were never heard there.

Your hosts are always on board: DJ Bjoern, who shaped the sound of Club 74 from 1991 to 1999 and was later active for years at Busters Workshop, as well as DJ Bjørn (Club 74 DJ from 2002 to 2004), known from "Neon Club" and "The Green Empire", a kind of precursor event to "Club 74 Reloaded".

Come by if you want to celebrate joyfully to music off the mainstream again. And for all those for whom "The Club" was once a second home on weekends, there’s the opportunity to see familiar faces again, reminisce together, and – framed by a decoration that brings the old club back to life – to regain a piece of Club 74 feeling for one night.

Short history of the cult discotheque Club 74:

The small town of Waldems-Esch is also called the gateway to the Golden Ground. For many, however, it was for a long time above all one thing: the gateway to unconventional music off the beaten path.
When "Club 74" opened its doors on March 8, 1974, as one of many discotheques of that time, no one would have thought that this would be the beginning of a nearly 33-year history. Initially housed in the old hall building of the "Zur Krone" inn, Club 74 quickly captured a diverse audience. Here, everyone celebrated together: visitors of all generations – from teenagers to those well over 60 – many more people from the region and beyond, as well as representatives of various subcultures – hippies, metalheads, punks, and darkwavers, as well as students and members of the still numerous US Armed Forces in the Rhine-Main area.

"The Club," as it was colloquially called, established itself as a regional to a nationwide institution. Key co-founder and later sole operator Hans Sedlak († 2017), the staff, and especially the crowds of DJs, the special audience, and the expressive dance style of many "club-goers," made Club 74 a legendary, almost magical place for many. There was no dress code or fear of embarrassing oneself on the dance floor – whether barefoot or in high heels, at the club, people celebrated, danced, and turned night into day together.

Even the FAZ recognized in May 1990: "The secret center of the world is anyway Club 74 in Waldems-Esch."

The move on December 25, 1994, from the distinctive, Western-style designed dance hall to the more functional premises in the industrial area, which some regular guests found less atmospheric, represented a first rupture for some traditionalists. Nevertheless, another 12 years of club history were written afterwards, and on the wrought-iron-framed dance floor, feet were danced sore.

When Club 74 closed its doors forever on December 26, 2006, it was for many the end of an era.

Their name is Lilac Attitude, and they mean it! Lilac Attitude is not just a name, it’s a way of life: to keep going and follow your heart, no matter what comes. With this carefree attitude, they also approach their own band: Jacky (Main Vocals, Keys) and Daisy (Guitar) met while drinking, spraying, and baptizing beers, and then joined by flatmate and music freak Raku (Bass). First, they arranged concerts and then rehearsed. Eventually, the youngest member joined the band, beatkeeper Squid (Drums), to set the rhythm. Lilac Attitude is about living out fantasies, grabbing life by the “horns of the Syringa,” and the result of their music is shaped exactly by this. The sound is driven, grungy, untamed, honest, and hopeful. They call it "Floral Grunge".

AchtVier has been one of the most influential voices in Hamburg street rap for over a decade and remains a solid reference point today for anyone seeking genuine, unadulterated rap. Shaped by the Hamburg hip-hop culture and his uncompromising style, he initially made a name for himself with the 187 Strassenbande and subsequently established himself impressively as a solo artist with his own signature and clear stance. His music stands for authenticity, directness, and an unmistakable identity. AchtVier tells stories of loyalty, friendship, personal struggles, and the dark sides of success – always close to reality, always with pressure and recognizability. With his distinctive voice, powerful beats, and catchy hooks, he connects classic street rap with modern productions, impressively demonstrating why his sound has remained relevant to this day.
Throughout his career, AchtVier released several successful solo albums, including "Aufstand," "Der alte Achti Vol. 1," and "Hyperaktiv," which further solidified his place in the German rap scene. In addition, he collaborated with numerous well-known artists in the German-speaking hip-hop landscape. Even live, AchtVier delivers exactly what his fans celebrate him for: energetic performances, strong stage presence, and immediate proximity to the audience. This year, there are only two shows planned – and this date is the only one in southern Germany. An exclusive live moment that should not be missed.
Special Guest: Bitumen brings strong, dark bars on head-nodding beats and love for hip-hop culture to the stage; fine freestyle with humorous parts is served by Lu Spencer straight from the Boom-Bap buffet. The collective "Hip Hop Village" is known for their many live performances in the Bavarian area, and they have become a solid institution in the scene thanks to the now six-year-running annual festival of the same name.
From 1:30 PM to about 7:00 PM, hip-hop workshops for 16 to 21-year-olds will take place at the Alten Kaserne. 40 Years Fat & Ready – RollaTour 2026

Fat & Ready first performed in 1987 at the Helfenstein Festival (then known as "Trümmerfeld"). Since then, they have honored their audience with rock and blues alco-rhythms and crazy Franconian lyrics. "The lyrics of the new songs definitely present a critical worldview, take new media to task ("Der Freund"), show a tongue-in-cheek social engagement ("Ode an die Faulheit"), predict the imminent downfall of humanity ("Dood und still"), or highlight dreadful Denglisch atrocities in the German language ("Scheiße gequirrlt")," says Golly Hertlein. Furthermore, Golly states, "the lively quintet presents a few of their everlasting hits such as "Nimm meine Liebe" or "Blouß a Bläidl singd vom Blärrer". In more than thirty years of the band's history of "sarcastic cult rock" (Hilpoltsteiner Kurier), some special awards are to be highlighted. Schang and Schibi were honored by the Music Academy Hammelburg as "Franconian singer-songwriters" and with the inclusion in "Sternenherzschlag" (HT music/Media Arte), Fat & Ready is part of the "Who Is Who" of the Franconian music scene. The recording of a concert in Immeldorf was broadcast as "Concert of the Month". The band is on air at "Fränkisch spoken" and "Rock Rookie Radio".
