ALEXANDER SCHEER | ANDREAS DRESEN & BAND
play (not only) Gundermann
“GUNDERMANN,” the directorial work of Andreas Dresen, became an arthouse hit and was decorated with 6 LOLAs, the German Film Award. A film that was continuously celebrated by the media, deeply moving, with a soundtrack that touches the soul. Alexander Scheer, as the lead actor, was awarded the Bavarian Film Award and the LOLA for this role. As a dynamic singer and musician, he received the German Record Critics’ Award for his interpretation of the songs in the feature film and subsequently climbed to a spot in the Top 20 of the German Album Charts.
Scheer, who already fascinated as Keith Richards in the feature film “Das wilde Leben” and thrilled as David Bowie at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, deeply immerses himself in the cosmos and songs of Gerhard Gundermann. He explores them, unfolds an almost magical intensity “with all he has” and returns it in a concentrated form.
For the film premiere, a band was specifically formed, not realizing that it would develop into a band project that is now a concert highlight and festival event with a rapidly growing audience response across Germany. Meanwhile, the first live album “Immer wieder Nie Genug” is among the people, which attests to never standing still, but developing enough material to joyfully expand the repertoire. Dancing is also allowed!
Press Reviews:
“These songs touch deeply, and this band, which feels like six old friends traveling together, does too. There is an energy flow that recharges the batteries, creates connection, and gives courage in often distressing times.” (Hamburger Abendblatt)
“A magical evening” (Leipziger Volkszeitung)
“This band now shows itself at the Zeltival with exhilarating joy of playing. ‘Karlsruhe, I can already feel it, something is happening here,’ Scheer shouts after the second song in the applause.” (Badener Zeitung, Karlsruhe)
“After the concert-like first part, where the audience still sits obediently in their seats, follows—aided among others by the grand guitar solos of Pankow’s string wizard Jürgen Ehle—a second part that is almost euphoric, which pulls most visitors off their seats and dancing like seldom before at this place, the courtyard of Schwerin Castle. This band not only acts film-worthy here, they have the potential for longevity.” (Schweriner Volkszeitung)
