For the first time, Butzbach is hosting the largest Brass Music Festival in the region – an exclusive event and at the same time the last opportunity to experience Ernst Hutter & Die Egerländer Musikanten – Das Original live in Hesse. Following the exciting kick-off with Jan Delay & Disko No. 1 and Germany's biggest Mallorca party, the Brass Music Festival will mark the festive conclusion of the Butzbach Open Air 2025 on Sunday, July 6.

Ernst Hutter, who has led the original Egerländer Musikanten for 25 years, will bid farewell in 2025 as the leader of the world's most successful brass band. His grand farewell tour "Mein Finale" with the Egerländer will take him across Germany with more than 40 concerts – and now also live and open-air to Butzbach.
"The sold-out hall concerts of the 'Mein Finale' tour have shown how great the interest is. The wonderful world of the accordion
Solo Vassily Dück

Schifferklavier. Quetschkommode. Schweineorgel. There are many, more or less friendly names for the accordion. What they all have in common is that there is often a hint of disdain because many do not take the accordion seriously.
Vassily Dück has dedicated himself to his hand-drawn instrument body and soul. “I want to present the accordion as one of the most versatile musical instruments out there,” says the musician born in Siberia. He will do this solo, completely without companions, but with an arsenal of different keyboard and button variants of his favorite sound generator, as can be easily seen in the photo.
With great joy, Dück will set out to break the clichés he constantly faces. Associating the bellows solely with folk music is far too one-dimensional. “On one hand, there is a lot of traditional music for the accordion that is beautiful, but the instrument also offers so many possibilities to discover and try out other things and much new,” Dück promises a stylistically diverse repertoire with pieces from genres such as world music, pop, and classical.
“I will also play a few of my own compositions like 'Orient Waltz' or 'Old Car Blues', something poppy like Stevie Wonder’s 'Sir Duke', and jazzy tunes like 'Spain' by Chick Corea, tangos by Astor Piazzolla, as well as classical pieces by Bach and Vivaldi, and of course traditional French and Russian music.” Dück’s adventurous spirit goes as far as to not shy away from showing off a few hard "AC/DC" sequences. “That also fits my soul,” Dück says with a laugh.

Meeting point is the Liebig Museum for a 30-40 minute guided tour of Liebig's laboratory with Dr. Stephan Becker. Afterwards, there will be a lecture with "Experiments by Justus Liebig" (approximately 1 hour) at the "Bibliothek" in the restaurant "Justus" (about 5 minutes walking distance).

In any case, they would have been better understood. Luckily, there are Tilman Birr and Elis C. Bihn alias “Welthits auf Hessisch”.

They have faithfully translated world-famous hits from the last 130 years – from English, French, or Italian. Translated into Hessian, the language of love and poetry, and of course into the Hessian way of life. Only these two can do that. “Welthits auf Hessisch” – the Harry Rowohlt of mood bands. Now they sing the famous songs “Am Lebe bleibe” (Bee Gees), “Bös” (Michael Jackson), or “Kerzsche innem Wind” (Elton John).

It is "the other city tour" to one of the darkest parts of the city's history: During World War II, Wetzlar became a center of advanced war technology. When the bombing raids reached Wetzlar as well, the industrial plants moved their productions "underground": Prisoners of war and local miners blasted huge tunnels into the surrounding hills and mountains, where opticians and mechanics, together with forced laborers, maintained the production critical for the war effort. The Wetzlar population also found shelter here from the bombing raids. The camouflage was so perfect that the Americans only discovered what they had overlooked until then when they marched into the city. The guided tunnel tour is suitable for teenagers aged 14 and above, accompanied by adults. Participation for children under 14 years old cannot be accommodated.

In May 1772, Goethe arrived in Wetzlar. The young lawyer, 22 years old, was to complete an internship at the Reichskammergericht, the highest German court at the time. Soon he met and fell in love with a young woman from Wetzlar, Charlotte Buff. But Charlotte was already promised to someone else. After an eventful summer, Goethe left the city in September. Two years later, he published his greatest novel success "The Sorrows of Young Werther", in which he processed his experiences in Wetzlar. The city tour follows the traces of Goethe during his stay in Wetzlar.

The tour conveys the turbulent history of the Vitos Clinic, founded in 1911 as a healing and care institution. From the First World War, the horrors of the Third Reich, the psychiatric reform of the 70s and 80s to the modern Vitos Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy today, the clinic has experienced many highs and lows. An essential component here is the memorial exhibition "On the Value of Human Beings." It shows the history of the Gießen healing and care institution from 1911 to 1945.
