His unmistakable voice has often earned him the reputation in his musical career of being the "German voice of Bob Marley." Playing, laughing, being loud, romping, doing nothing – and that in an exhibition house! From September 4, 2024, BAUBAU invites exactly that. In the play space for children designed by artist Kerstin Brätsch, more is allowed than forbidden. Colorful wallpapers, structures, objects, and a range of “Loose Parts” form spaces on the ground floor of the Gropius Bau that do not impose fixed guidelines but are determined by the activities of the children. They dictate the direction and form of what happens here. Thus, this place becomes a space of possibilities that can change day by day.

BAUBAU will launch in September 2024 in a prototype version and will continue to develop and grow over the coming years both inside and outside the Gropius Bau – in close exchange with the children and their wishes, as this is their place.

The Play
All children have the urge to play. This is how they learn to understand themselves and the world. Especially open, self-determined play is of great significance for emotional and social development. The educational concept for BAUBAU is therefore based on the principles of free play: Here, there is time, space, and permission for children to follow their own needs and interests. They are accompanied by playworkers – trained staff who create a safe and supportive environment where children can play freely.

 
The Art
BAUBAU playfully questions what a museum or an art institution should be. The comprehensive spatial design developed by Kerstin Brätsch is full of references and inspirations: elements from her previous works, such as marbling, paintings, or stucco marble work, reappear here in altered forms and materialities. The wallpapers, curtains, fabrics, seating furniture, and climbing structures are inhabited by dinosaurs, fantastical beings, termite mounds, and abstract elements. With their strange, funny, and perhaps a bit eerie shapes, they create an open framework for free play.

Kerstin Brätsch's practice is designed to allow and incorporate influences from outside. While she has previously collaborated with artists or artisans, she now does so in a completely different way with children: She invites the children to reshape and further develop the space according to their own ideas and visions, without the influence of the artist in unpredictable ways.

Peter Orloff and the Black Sea Cossacks - this proven show looks back on half a century of history. As the youngest singer of all Cossack choirs at the time, Peter Orloff was already on stage from the very beginning. Now, the German schlager singer is back on a European tour!

Peter Orloff comes from an old Russian noble family. His father, son of a Tsar's general, was a theologian and later led the Black Sea Cossack Choir founded in the 1930s, where Peter Orloff showcased his voice.

The concert is a musical journey through the enchanting world of old Russia with romances, stories, and ballads of grand expressiveness, deep melancholy, and overflowing temperament. A must-see for every fan of Russian choirs!

„Fly with me! Fly with me!“, calls Albi, the Alpine swift, who nests under the roof of the Linden Museum during the summer months. On your flight through the permanent exhibitions, you will encounter the transparent kangaroo, hear about an extinct bird, and can listen to the conversation with Seraa, the elephant. Whether in pictures or clothing, made from wood, ceramics, and stone – the animals and their representations tell of the coexistence of humans and animals. This relationship is not always straightforward. On one hand, many animals are admired, revered, and appreciated as companions or domestic and farm animals, while on the other hand, their habitats are also destroyed and they are hunted or displaced.

In the exhibition, illustrator Promina Shrestha brings the animals on the objects to life through her images. During the listening and stamping rally, you will discover together with Albi what the animals have to say, solve puzzles, and collect stamps.

Experience one of the richest and most popular music traditions presented by the Ginzburg family: The Ginzburg dynasty plays Klezmer from the heart. Those who listen to them can only pass one judgment: Grandiose. They create a musical bridge from the centuries-old tradition to modernity: Eastern European Klezmer, Swing, Yiddish Chansons, Oriental Pop, and finest Jazz – there is something for every taste. The members of the Ginzburg family are trained professional musicians in the sixth generation whose Klezmer repertoire has been passed down, expanded, and perfected from generation to generation. They are today the only professional Klezmer family in Europe. Weddings and other Jewish celebrations are their specialty. Nevertheless, they master classical music, jazz, as well as dance music.

Based on an idea from several young talented like-minded individuals, Chamber of Lights offers not only brilliant performances by top-notch musicians but also a unique artistic concept. The uniqueness of Chamber of Lights lies in the variability and diversity of possible ensembles: from a duo to an orchestra with 24 musicians. Due to the excellent instrumental training and individual talent, each member of Chamber of Lights can also shine as a soloist, which in turn provides an invaluable opportunity for the personal development of each artist, as well as for the development of the organization as a whole.
Chamber of Lights has set no limits in choosing the musical styles and eras: from early Baroque to contemporary music, the audience can expect not only classical but also new interesting interpretations, and this particularly distinguishes us.
The chamber group of Chamber of Lights presents Vivaldi's masterpiece “Die Vier Jahreszeiten” with soloist Maria Nowak. In the second part of the program, among other pieces, Schubert's Serenade and Moment Musical, Brahms' Hungarian Dances, and Boccherini's Rondo for cello, interpreted by Shiri Tintpulver, will be performed.

Ennio Morricone: The Master of Film Music

As a master of his art, the Italian composer Ennio Morricone has created immortal film scores that continue to inspire today. Among the most famous are his works for the legendary Sergio Leone's Italian Western classics such as "A Fistful of Dollars," "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," and "Once Upon a Time in the West."

His incomparable compositions for "Mission" and "Cinema Paradiso" are considered some of the most beautiful and moving film melodies of all time.

Morricone's music, originally written for a large orchestra, has been exclusively rearranged for the One World String Quartet by Maestro Antonello Capuano. Capuano won the prestigious Premio Barzizza in 2003, and Morricone himself served as the jury president at this competition.

The One World String Quartet consists of talented, rising musicians from around the world and tours successfully through Germany and Europe. Experience the intimacy and emotion of Morricone's masterpieces in a new form and let yourself be enchanted by the powerful passion and unique sound of these brilliant musicians.

Mama’s Cooking brings classics of rock history back to the stage with genuine feeling and musical precision. The band interprets songs from rock, blues, and country with their own character – unpretentious, dynamic, honest. The focus is on the joy of live performance, groove, and atmosphere.

Sigrid Rose captivates with a powerful voice that deeply touches and effortlessly switches stylistically between soul, rock, and blues. Guitarist and singer Andreas Hentschel brings energy, a zest for improvisation, and musical depth to the mix. Roland Schott expands the sound with keys, guitar, and a keen sense for arrangements. Thomas Brandt (bass, vocals) provides a solid foundation and fine groove, while drummer Guido Machunze keeps the place together with clear timing and enthusiasm.

The repertoire ranges from Janis Joplin, Beth Hart, and Fleetwood Mac to Doobie Brothers and Eagles – complemented by gems that you rarely hear live but immediately recognize. Not a polished nostalgia, but honest live sound with character.

20 years of DIE HAPPY and 2 babies 2013 is a special year for DIE HAPPY!

Twenty years ago - in September 1993 - a 19-year-old Czech language genius came to Ulm. She actually just wanted to pass the waiting time for her study place as an interpreter and learn a new language. But Marta Jandová, the daughter of the famous Czech rock musician Petr Janda, was asked just a few days after her arrival by guitarist Thorsten Mewes if she would like to sing in his new band. That was the birth hour of DIE HAPPY!

The band, centered around the charismatic bundle of energy Marta, has long established itself as one of the best German live acts. With sold-out club tours, concerts at all major festivals, Echo nominations, and several Top Ten chart placements, they are a fixed presence in our music landscape.

For her guest appearance at the culture and event barn in Reichelheim on March 14, 2026, Anne Haigis has come up with something very special: She brings not only her current album "Carry on – Songs für immer", which reflects the most important and personal songs of her 40 years "on stage". Anne Haigis will not be alone on stage – she will be supported by the singer Susanne Back, who has been successfully touring with the music comedy quartet "Schöne Mannheims" for years. The two met at a joint concert, and it quickly became clear: it fits. By now, they have rocked the stage countless times and even created their own highly praised project "Schön’n Abend noch".

Tim Fischer pays tribute to Hildegard Knef, who would celebrate her 100th birthday on December 28, 2025, with a glamorous concert evening and embodies the cult star with heart and soul. This is an absolute labor of love for the singing actor, who became a fan as a teenager and has always been fascinated and inspired by the vast spectrum of Knef's work.
With style and virtuosity, accompanied by his excellent band, consisting of pianist, arranger, and musical director Mathias Weibrich, Lars Hansen (bass), and Bernd Oezsevim (drums), "The Master of Chansons" (Hannoversche Allgemeine, 2024) passionately immerses himself in the song worlds of the versatile artist.
Hildegard Knef, who wrote her best song lyrics in her unflinchingly matter-of-fact and uniquely her own tone and who was set to music by high-profile composers such as Charly Niessen, Kai Rautenberg, and the great Hans Hammerschmid, has moved millions of people and remains timelessly beautiful, says Tim Fischer. The emotional, often tragicomic stories that radiate warmth, courage, and fragility still endure today and are therefore worth performing. They serve as an ideal projection surface for the audience – as well as for him as an interpreter – to project their own desires and longings onto the canvas of life.
Artistically, Fischer approaches the work of perhaps the greatest artist personality of the Federal Republic and adopted Berliner, who has been shaken by life, this "gifted horse," who has always gotten back up and remained herself, not for the first time. When Christine Thürmer was born in 1967, nothing indicated that she would one day become the most hiked woman in the world. In school, otherwise the top of her class, she was a complete failure in sports. So she first made a steep career as a manager before she realized, after an unexpected dismissal and the death of a friend: Time - not money - is the most important resource in life. Completely untrained, she hiked 4,277 kilometers from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail - despite flat feet, bow legs, and being overweight! And that's just the beginning: Since then, she has covered more than 65,000 kilometers by foot, crossed the USA and Europe three times each, and written four books about her adventures. "Running.
